    Hello! After receiving some friendly feedback about the gameplay mechanics, there have been some changes to accommodate and make things better for all players. Additionally, a good amount of time has been spent to polish and improve performance.However, I am looking for anyone who is interested in playing the game for free, to provide more feedback and a steam review! Just jump into the official Smoking Gun Discord Server and mention you are interested in providing feedback and I'll get you a free steam key for the game! No strings attached, I just need some honest feedback; good or bad! There is a limited number of keys available, so first come, first serve!

    What is Matali Physics?
    Matali Physics is an advanced, modern, multi-platform, high-performance 3d physics environment intended for games, VR, AR, physics-based simulations and robotics. Matali Physics consists of the advanced 3d physics engine Matali Physics Core and other physics-driven modules that all together provide comprehensive simulation of physical phenomena and physics-based modeling of both real and imaginary objects.
    What's new in version 6.9?

    Physics-driven, completely dynamic light sources. The introduced solution allows for processing hundreds of movable, long-range and shadow-casting light sources, where with each source can be assigned logic that controls its behavior, changes light parameters, volumetric effects parameters and others;
    Real-time object scaling with destruction. All groups of physics objects and groups of physics objects with constraints may be subject to destruction process during real-time scaling, allowing group members to break off at different sizes;
    Lighting model simulating global illuminationin some aspects. Based on own research and development work, processed in real time, ready for dynamic scenes, fast on mobile devices, not based on lightmaps, light probes, baked lights, etc.;
    Comprehensive support for Wayland on Linux. The latest version allows Matali Physics SDK users to create advanced, high-performance, physics-based, Vulkan-based games for modern Linux distributions where Wayland is the main display server protocol;

    I've been developing the game for the past 8 months or so and this is the second round of playtesting. My goal is to make something fun and memorable, not too difficult, and not easy to predict. There is quite of bit of lore and character building as well as some light puzzles and interesting interactions.

    I'm very open to any and all feedback, good and bad, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

    We’d like to help everyone get started with the prototype, so here’s a brief summary of the current controls. Controller support is planned for a future update.

    Controls
    Spells can be selected in two ways:
    Hold the Q key briefly to bring up the spell bar, then use A, S, D to navigate or simply left-click on a spell.
    Or use F2 for Arcane Bolt, F3 for Arcane Shield, and F4 for Time Wrap directly.
    Note: This is the first iteration of the keybindings. Full keyboard/mouse and controller support will improve usability in future versions.

    ■ Character Attributes
    You can allocate points under Primary Attributes / Skills on your character screen. For a Mage, we recommend:
    A. Arcana – Grants +1 HP, +1 Tempo, and +3 Focus per rank
    B. Finesse – Grants +2 HP, +2 Tempo, and +1 Focus per rank
    If survivability is a priority, invest in Vigor, which grants +4 HP and +1 Tempo per rank.
    Many items also boost these attributes depending on their rarity and stats.

    ■ Combat Basics
    Main rule: If you run out of Tempo, end your turn by pressing ENTER or clicking the End Turn button.
    Your character can only move or act as long as they have Tempo remaining.
    Tip: If you're near an Exit, you can flee to the adjacent map.

    ■ Spell Usage
    Arcane Bolt – A magical projectile that can hit enemies even without Line of Sight.

    → Press F2, or hold Q, navigate with A/S/D
    → Press Q again to enter targeting mode
    → Rotate target with A/D, cast with F
    Arcane Shield – Currently self-cast only. Grants both physical and magical protection.

    → Use F3 or hold Q, navigate to the spell
    → Target yourself, confirm with F
    Time Wrap – A spell with dual-purpose effects:

    → Cast on enemies to increase their Tempo cost
    → Cast on yourself to reduce your Tempo cost
    → Use the same selection method as above

    ■ Targeting & Hit Chance
    When targeting, a stats window appears next to the enemy.
    Note: The window disappears if you move the mouse.
    The percentage displayed indicates your hit chance.

    ■ Additional Tips
    Lootables such as equipment and consumablesare essential.
    You can use potions before or during combat.
    You cannot change gear while in combat.

    Hey everyone — I’m incredibly excitedto finally announce that my first game, Astrumis – Survive Together, is now available on Steam!

    This has been a solo project from start to finish — a true passion project.     After two years of solo development, I’m proud to announce that the store page for Tezzel: The Tilemaker’s Tale is now live on Steam! This handcrafted puzzle game invites you into the vibrant world of tilemaking, one tile and one puzzle at a time.
    What is Tezzel?
    Tezzel: The Tilemaker's Tale is a 2D pixel-art puzzle game inspired by the colorful hydraulic tiles of Barcelona and the genius of Antoni Gaudí. You play as an artisan crafting a monumental wall by solving tile-based puzzles.
    Each tile itslef is a level and it presents its own challenge:

    To solve the tile you must move all blocks to the end positions
    Once compelted, the tile is added to the wall
    Unlock new tools that expand the logic and complexity of the blocks
    Solve around 100 handcrafted puzzles

    One of the last levels, with all the tolls unlocked

    Mechanics That Grow With You
    Tezzel doesn’t rely on rotating or pushing blocks. Here, the blocks move, and they paint. They can differ a bit in the way they move and you unlock them when you advance in the game:

    Gravity-based movement
    Sticky behavior
    Long MoversTeleporters
    Inverted Movement

    Build the Great Wall of Tezzel
    Every tile you complete becomes part of a larger mosaic wall. It’s a visual memory of everything you’ve created. The wall grows with you, tile by tile, until the full picture comes together.

    Why Pixel Art?
    The tiles in Tezzel are inspired by real-world mosaics. I wanted every puzzle to feel like a small piece of something larger and beautiful. Pixel art gives me that handcrafted, colorful, and readable feel.
    This isn’t just a puzzle game. It’s a visual experience rooted in craft.

    What is up with the DEMO?

    The DEMO ends after a portion of Chapter 1 is played.
    Nimbus’s universe features hack-and-slash and turn-based battle mechanics, both of which are available to try in the DEMO.
    Achievements are included in the DEMO, however they will not count toward Steam achievements for both IndieDB and Steam versions.
    Switching from the DEMO to the full game will keep your progress if you are playing the DEMO on Steam.
    The DEMO will not receive updates unless a critical bug is found.

  • Blade Ballad: Binds and Spears

    Binding mechanics are reworked to allow freedom of movement. New features include blade recoil for beats, improved AI, the addition of spears, and experimental LAN. Banking mechanics are conceptualized to add realism in the game's story mode.

    I had touched on how fluid movement is important for engaging gameplay in a previous post, failing to realize that the way binding would freeze you in place was contradictory to that point.
    The previous approach to binding was a matter of programming limitation rather than technical. I couldn't figure out a way to allow blade movement tangent to another blade without tunneling issues, since weapon movement was only relative to the character, rather than relative to its own collisions.
    The solution was to enable a minimal amount of physics to control the blade, torqued by an angular force enough to keep the weapon oriented upright, while base movement would still use kinematics. It will only be in play when another object is acting upon it, rather than be the driving force of the weapon. This meant that in the event of a bind, the weapon would align itself to the blade it's bound with, and as demonstrated in the video, maintains the pressure necessary to keep the weapon in contact without tunneling.
    With a more stable and consistent binding mechanic I was able to unrestrict weapon and character movement, allowing for a new combat paradigm where opponents would wrestle each other for the most ideal attack angle.
    Blade "Recoil"
    To add another layer of reactivity, the blade that receives the attack would "recoil" opposite to the direction of the blade that struck it as demonstrated in the video.
    This technique allows you to strike your opponent’s blade to create an opening for an attack. It's based on a real sword-fighting strategy where, instead of targeting the opponent directly, you first displace their defense by "beating" their blade out of the way.
    Combat Movement
    A new set of root motion animations for combat have been added to accompany the more aggressive AI. In previous versions, NPCs wielding shorter swords rarely stood a chance against those with larger ones. But now, a katana wielding gladiator can stand his ground—even without chest armor—against an opponent armed with a zweihander, and go on to win the rematch. In summary: size doesn't matter.
    The only current limitation left is how to handle dynamic target locking. It's fine when you're in a 1v1 duel, but against several enemies, especially now that each team gets up to 8 people in the arena, then it becomes an impediment rather than an advantage.

    Models
    Armor

    Speaking of chest armor, the Lorica Hamatais now part of the gladiator loadout. As far as Roman themed items go, this might be one of the last to be added.
    Spears
    Spears have been a near universal weapon in the ancient world, yet rarely receives representation in games in comparison to swords, likely something to do with the fact that it's really overpowered. I included it irregardlessly because I wanted to experiment with a new melee control system.
    Spears do not rotate like swords, instead it only pans, where the panning controls the spear tip. It's the perfect weapon against armored opponents or for fighters who prefer fighting from a distance with precise thrusts.
    Just keep in mind that spears still inherits the drawbacks of its real life counterpart.
    Scripts
    LAN Play
    Networked gameplay—something that's been on the backburner for a while, and something I’ve always wanted to implement—have now been developed into something barebones but functional.
    To start a LAN game, it's as easy as choosing LAN in the arena dropdown, and if you're starting the game, choose the host or server and share the IP address that is displayed to your clients.
    The host will have to spawn in the arena before clients can join.

    Story Mode
    The starting town in Story Mode is composed of simple, geometric structures, built with the Placeable system.
    Not every buildings will be created with this system, but a good portion of generic buildings will be, so apartments, barracks, or anything with a blocky form. Unique or curved structures, like the Colosseum, will be modeled instead.
    Banking
    Moneyin the world of Blade Ballad will have tangible weight, so it wouldn't be smart to go adventuring while hauling your entire fortune everywhere, as it will slow you down and draw unwanted attention from bandits, thieves and scam artists.
    Instead, you would make use of the many banks and deposit boxes located throughout the world to store your coin, whether earned or stolen. These banks would allow deposit, withdrawal and transfers to other banks, and will attempt to keep your wealth safe, with varying degrees of success.
    However, ancient bankscame with their own problems. One would be its vulnerability to raiders. Since FDIC wasn't a thing, your money is effectively gone if it was looted. Corruption would be present as welland would come in the form of "misplaced" funds, usury, embezzlement, preferential treatment to families of bankers, etc.
    This is intended to help you realize that you don't need all that gold. In most open world games I've played, I've always finished it with a massive pile of money in my inventory. All that time finding and selling items and I ended up not spending most of it anyways.

    Whispering Blade just got a new update!
    This update brings new features, characters, and improvements to the game.
    New Features

    New Field Area Mode: Explore the world like never before! In this new mode, you can walk around the map with your favorite character, discover encounters, and engage in thrilling battles. Field Area mode is also the key to obtaining items for the new equipment crafting system.

    Each Field Area is tier-based, with varying encounters.
    Currently, one tier is available, with more tiers planned for future updates.

    New Gearing System: Customize your characters to perfection! This system allows for deep character customization, along with new Enhancement and Awakening systems to further improve your equipment.
    Equipment Subpage: A new dedicated subpage category has been added, featuring all the necessary filters and pagination for easy navigation of the new equipment gearing system.

    New Characters

    Izanami: A subtle ninja assassin, Izanami excels at prolonging enemy suffering by increasing debuff timers.

    Obtainable through the new Field Area mode.

    Guren: A true naginata blood master, Guren enhances his attacks with his own blood, sacrificing his life force to strengthen his strikes.

    Guren is available through recruiting.

    New Outfits

    Monk Jinzo Outfit: A brand-new outfit for the beloved Monk Jinzo.
    Sage Tatsuya Outfit: A new outfit for Sage Tatsuya.

    New Event
