The Danish National Police are reconsidering their presence on X (formerly Twitter), citing concerns over misinformation and algorithmic changes. For years, X has been an essential tool for Danish police districts to provide real-time updates on incidents and emergencies.Journalists and media outlets have relied on X Pro (previously TweetDeck) to monitor these updates. However, that may soon be coming to an end, as the police recently told Dagbladet Brsen.Looking for a proprietary platformRen Gyldensten, head of communications for the National Police of Denmark, told Brsen that X posed challenges for official communications."When it comes to misinformation and changing algorithms, X has developed in a way that makes it clear that we in the police need to own our own communication," he said.Rather than moving to another social media platform, the police are exploring independent solutions, partly inspired by the Norwegian model. In Norway, police and journalists have co-developed 'Pressklienten,' a closed communication channel designed for direct information-sharing.Danish media companies leaving XMajor media outlets in Denmark, including DR, Ritzau, and Journalisten, have already left X.For some, the issue was declining traffic. For others, it was the lack of content moderation or a shift in platform values, Journalisten.dk reported. More#TechSee Also
