FromSoftwareFromSoftware is known for masterfully reusing assets from previous games and integrating them into new projects. This practice seems to date back to the release of the first Dark Souls title, as one of its locations was allegedly made out of a few assets. The notorious location from Dark Souls, Blighttown, with its numerous labyrinthine corridors and walkways, was allegedly created using about ten pieces of wood. Spotted by GamesRadar+, a modder Scott Grimrukh Mooney has shared the observation: Fun fact: the entirety of Blighttown, as far as I can tell, is built from scaled copy/pastes of these ten bits of wood. The modder supposes that the developer repeatedly copied and rearranged the wood plank props to form the stores and corridors of the entirety of the treacherous area. Grimrukh is a co-creator of a mod called Dark Souls: Nightfall, and it was while working on the project that he found out how Blighttown was made.Such an approach not only contributes to the oppressive and decayed atmosphere of the place but also serves as an example of FromSoftwares efficient use of its game assets. The developer released a number of acclaimed titles, including Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, and Elder Ring, so the companys approach of recontextualizing assets proves to be effective and is a sign of a high level of expertise. Before, there were suggestions that FromSoftware might be working on a remaster of Dark Souls 3.Dont forget to join our 80 Level Talent platform and our new Discord server, follow us on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Telegram, TikTok, and Threads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post Blighttown in Dark Souls Is Allegedly Built from Ten Bits of Wood appeared first on CG SHARES.
