Monster Hunter Wilds set a new franchise record on Friday (February 28), and helped Steam hit a huge new concurrent player count over the weekend, with more than 40 million players logged inTech15:05, 03 Mar 2025Despite PC issues, Monster Hunter Wilds is popular on Steam(Image: Capcom)Monster Hunter Wilds is here, and while we've already covered its huge player numbers on launch day (despite performance issues that may have been caused by a typo of all things), it's a small piece of a big shift.As spotted by VGC, Steam saw a new peak player count over the weekend, with more than 40 million players logged in and playing concurrently.That sets a new record, and the first time it's gone past 40 million, with 1.38 million attributed to Monster Hunter Wilds alone.
