PlayStation fans can redeem five additional days of PlayStation Plus membership after a 24 hour outage earlier this month, but not everyone is best pleased about itTech10:28, 04 Mar 2025Good news - PlayStation fans are getting their free PS Plus timeThe PlayStation outage may not have hit the lows of 2011, but Sony's network was down for around 24 hours before Sony announced things had been fixed.That left players unable to enjoy their games across PS5 and PS4, with even offline games unable to connect to PSN to verify ownership, while a scheduled post on X (formerly Twitter) rubbed gamers the wrong way, too.Sony promised to give away an additional five days of PlayStation Plus subscription time and we now know how players can claim it.Content cannot be displayed without consentPosting on X after the outage was fixed, the Ask PlayStation account said "Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience.""All PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional 5 days of service," it continues, but for some it wasn't enough, with complaints from players expecting free games or PSN vouchers.Five days of PlayStation Plus is rolling out now, though, with your renewal date now bumped along. Because Sony offers deals a couple of times a year, fans often try to tie it in with dates like Black Friday. Cheaper rates are often only applied for lapsed memberships, however, meaning some gamers may lose out on discounted PS Plus rates with the added five days."Nothing. Sony f***ed up and will be rewarded by millions because of this. They knew exactly what they were doing here," one Reddit comment said."I really don't want this, it affected my last sub, not my resubbed one. It'll most likely put me outside the range for the next February sale," another added.
