Walt Disney Animation Studios has laid off employees at its Vancouver office as part of a strategic shift in content production. While Disney has not officially disclosed the number of job cuts, sources familiar with the situation estimate that the Vancouver office now houses approximately 300 employees.The layoffs stem from Disneys decision to reduce long-form content and instead focus on one theatrical feature per year alongside short-form projects. As part of this shift, the Tiana seriesa Princess and the Frog spinoffhas been canceled, along with another feature-length project in development.Disneys Vancouver studio, which opened in 2022, was primarily focused on long-form programming.
