Caldarus, the dragon that helps you out around Mistria, has been teased as a romanceable candidate since Fields of Mistrias launch, and now you can finally start to woo him, kind of. As part of the 1.3 update, you can unlock Caldarus romanceable form, allowing you to visit him and give him gifts.The spoiler-free tl;dr is that you need to hit the 60th floor of the mines and interact with the tablet, which will kick off a quest chain that results in him appearing, but we flesh out the steps more below, so beware of light spoilers.How to unlock romanceable Caldarus If youre jumping into the 1.3 update on an existing save file with most of the older content done, you shouldnt have to worry about playing too much catch-up. You may notice quests from Adeline and the others come in, but you dont have to really pay attention to them, as they are not required for unlocking Caldarus.The quest itself is pretty self-explanatory with the NPCs walking you along the steps, but if youre not quite there yet and want to know what items youll need to expedite the process, here are the steps to unlock Caldarus new form:Get to the 60th floor of the mines and interact with the tablet to start the Breaking the Fire Seal questline.Talk to Juniper to start deciphering the tablet, following the quest line with Balor. Youll need to wait a few in-game days for Balor to find what you need.Provide Balor with the necessary materials to proceed (1o sapphires, 10 rubies, 10 emeralds, and 10 iron ingots) to get the sealing scroll.Give the four required materials (one emerald, one rockroot, one faceted rock gem, and the sealing scroll) to the fire shrine.After the cutscene, head to The Eastern Road and make sure you have your axe with you.As instructed during the cutscene, use the Dragons Breath spell on the vines blocking the area in the northeast.Head through the newly opened area to access The Deep Woods.From the entrance to The Deep Woods, head right and chop the tree stump (requires at least a copper axe) blocking the way.Follow the path to head to Caldarus home and talk to him inside.In our playthrough, Caldarus was immediately a six-heart relationship (which is the max, as of 1.3), but the patch notes for the 1.3 update says that his heart levels will now increase as intended with key story points, so you may have less hearts with him depending on your story progress.After going through this questline, you can use the Caldarus statue on your farm to teleport straight to his domain in exchange for 10 essence, which isnt too shabby of a deal.Caldarus also becomes an eligible invitable NPC for the Shooting Star Festival, so long as you have his human form unlocked.
