From Paramounts Sonic the Hedgehog movies to HBOs The Last of Us series, games are now becoming the blueprint for blockbusters, and Xbox is taking notes. After two poorly received seasons of the Halo TV show, Xbox boss Phil Spencer believes the company has learned what not to do with its iconic IPs. Following the massive success of Amazons Fallout adaptation, Xbox is hoping for more of that and less of Master Chief sleeping with a P.O.W yep.Halo TV show taught Xbox a valuable lessonSpeaking to Variety, Xbox boss Phil Spencer explained that Xbox is working on more adaptations of its properties for the coming years. Alongside more seasons of Fallout, Xbox has more adaptations in the works. We learned from doing Halo, Spencer said. We learned from doing Fallout. So all of these build on themselves. And obviously well have a couple that miss. But what Id say to the Xbox community that likes this work is, Youre going to see more, because were gaining confidence and were learning through this. Spencer didnt confirm what adaptations are in the works for Xbox fans. While some have expressed an interest in a reboot of the Halo TV show, or an ODST spin-off in the style of Band of Brothers (yeah, we see you, r/Halo), theres no concrete plans for a continuation.Alongside the Xbox flagship, many fans have spent years clamouring for a Gears of War movie as well. With Dave Bautista still pining to play protagonist Marcus Fenix, theres hope that a great action adaptation could release one day. Hell, if Netflix can spend $320 million on The Electric State, they can spend something on Gears. As a lifelong Halo fan, I didnt completely hate the TV adaptation. While Season 1 had some truly dire story decisions, there were some cool moments, but Season 2 was a genuinely good time. Unleashing The Flood on Onyx instead of an army of sentinels was a surprising decision, thats for sure.Hopefully, one day, Master Chief will return to TV. That would be cool. But this time, maybe do it right. Not a one-to-one adaptation, but something much closer. (Also, start with Harvest. That would be amazing to see in live-action.)Halo 2Platform(s):PC, Xbox, Xbox OneGenre(s):Action, First Person, ShooterSubscribe to our newsletters!By subscribing, you agree to our Privacy Policy and may receive occasional deal communications; you can unsubscribe anytime.Share
