WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMHypercharge Unboxed VR is a dream project for devs – “I think we have to do it, to be honest”You can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Wave-based indie darling Hypercharge Unboxed is coming to a new console platform later this year. After its initial release in 2020, the five-man dev team is bringing the game to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 later this year, but there’s still one more platform potentially on the horizon: VR. Speaking to VideoGamer, game designer Joe Henson explained that the team has seen the years of requests for a Hybercharge Unboxed VR release. From PSVR to PC, the dev team is very much aware of the demand from fans every time the game appears online. Hypercharge Unboxed VR will probably happen With the studio’s genesis resting in VR development with the early Oculus title New Retro Arcade: Neon, Henson explains that they have the experience to bring their toybox shooter game to VR gamers. “Technically speaking, we’re quite experienced with [VR],” Henson said. “Things have changed a bit since then, but still, at least we’ve got some experience with it. I think VR is… I think we have to do it, to be honest.” With the PlayStation 4 and 5 version on the horizon, Henson explains that they have hit every major platform except VR. After spending a decade on the game, capping off the first game with a VR conversion would bring the company full circle. “When you’re at that toy perspective, it’s just tailor-made for VR,” they explained. “Everything in Hypercharge is. I don’t think anybody’s pulled it off like we have for an action figure game. The scale is like one-to-one.” “Things would have to be changed,” they continued. “But I think certainly VR is definitely on the table. And I’ve got a feeling we’re going to, we will do it. I think we have to do it.” For more articles on virtual reality development, read our interview with Alien: Rogue Incursion developer Survios on how their upcoming sequel is avoiding the mistakes of the original. WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMRoblox Dress to Impress sued for letting players do a viral Charli XCX danceYou can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Popular Roblox game mode Dress to Impress has slayed too close to the sun. The dress-up runway game favoured by fashionable gamers has been hit with a lawsuit for allowing players to perform a viral dance emote originated on TikTok. On TikTok, user Kelley Heyer created a dance for the Charli XCX song Apple. Known as the “Apple Dance”, this dance went all over the internet, eventually ending up on Dress to Impress. Kelley Heyer sues Roblox for Apple Dance emote On April 11, 2025, via Polygon, Heyer filed a lawsuit against Roblox after the dance was added to the game without permission. Heyer’s lawsuit reveals that she was in talks with the game to add the emote to Dress to Impress on April 12, 2025. However, the game released the emote before negoations were finished to tie into a new Charli XCX collaboration within the modelling game mode. “Roblox moved forward using Kelley’s IP without a signed agreement,” said Heyer’s attorney Miki Anzai. “Kelley is an independent creator who should be compensated fairly for her work and we saw no other option than to file suit to prove that. We remain willing and open to settle and hope to come to a peaceful agreement.” At the time of writing, the Apple Dance is no longer available to purchase in Roblox, but it’s estimated to have earned over $123,000 in its short availability. “As the Apple Dance emote comprises solely of the Apple Dance choreography, completely separate and distinct from the Charli XCX song, the sole ‘artist’ for purposes of the emote is Ms. Heyer,” the attorney stated. This isn’t the first time the Apple Dance has been added to a video game either. Heyer’s choreography was added to Fortnite alongside Charli XCX’s music, and no lawsuit was filed, although the game has been in trouble for using other dances without permission. WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMThese extremely popular Fortnite skins won’t be coming back for a long, long timeYou can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Most of the Fortnite skins return at some point. Epic Games re-releases some of them every few months, while some are unvaulted for years. Keeping skins in the vault makes the community eager for their return, and some stayed there for more than five years. Unfortunately, a couple of popular skins, which have been vaulted for more than three years, will not return anytime soon. Many Fortnite players are familiar with Jinx and Vi, two characters from “Arcane,” a popular TV show. These characters are also part of League of Legends, a MOBA video game. They were added to Fortnite during the first season of the show, but unfortunately, they will not come back soon. Popular Arcane skins will not return to Fortnite for a long time Back in November 2021, Epic Games added Jinx to Fortnite. A few months later, her sister, Vi, also came to the Item Shop. Both of these skins were last seen on February 5, 2022, and it doesn’t seem that they will return anytime soon. Marc Merrill, the co-founder of Riot Games and an executive producer of Arcane, spoke about the skins earlier this week and teased their potential return. Unfortunately, this won’t happen soon. The Riot co-founder provided an update on X (formerly Twitter), speaking about the partnership between his company and Epic Games. He brought up the launch of Season 1 of Arcane back in 2021, saying that the Fortnite collaboration made it special. Jinx and Vi skins won’t return to Fortnite soon. Image by VideoGamer “Since then, Fortnite has evolved a ton with new experiences and collabs, and we’ve had a lot of conversations with Epic about what might be possible,” Merrill wrote on his account. “They’ve been great partners, but we haven’t been able to find the right fit to bring the Arcane skins back and it unfortunately won’t be happening in the foreseeable future.” The show producer concluded with, “If anything changes in the future, we’ll let you know ASAP!” As a result, there’s a high likelihood that the Fortnite x Arcane skins will remain vaulted for at least another year. Currently, they rank among the rarest Fortnite skins ever, and they could soon make it into the top 10. Related Topics Fortnite Subscribe to our newsletters! WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMBaldur’s Gate 3’s Larian proved players “are not stupid” and want more “deep-a** CRPGs” instead of AAA schlock, says beloved indie publisherYou can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 should be a massive turning point for the games industry, although some veterans believe it won’t be the game-changer it should be. While Larian is now leaving the game behind after the release of Patch 8, New Blood Interactive CEO Dave Oshry believes the game has left a mark that is changing the industry. Speaking on a new episode of the Quad Damage Podcast, Oshry explained that we now live in “a post-Baldur’s Gate 3 world”. Via GamesRadar, the beloved indie publisher believes Larian’s success should result in more “deep-a** CRPG” games. “[Larian has] proven that people are not stupid,” Oshry said on the podcast. “They don’t want dumbed down RPGs, and that publishers can “sell 50 million copies of a deep-ass CRPG that will take you fucking months to beat.” Oshry explained that companies like “Microsoft should fund” more CRPGs, using Pillars of Eternity 3 as an example. Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity series—which recently saw an awesome spin-off called Avowed—was a spiritual successor to the original Baldur’s Gate games, and Oshry knows that a third game would succeed. “Microsoft should fund a Pillars 3,” he said. “Josh [Sawyer] really wants to do Pillars 3.” While Larian is hard at work on its next RPG that will probably take us years to complete, the impact of BG3 is yet to really happen for the wider industry. Yes, Hasbro wants to make another Baldur’s Gate game that continues to “raise the bar” without Larian, but will other game developers follow suit? That’s the real question: while Larian has proven that gamers want games with real value instead of battle pass-filled, free-to-play games that jump on trends. However, the success of Larian doesn’t mean that companies like EA, Activision and others will follow suit, which is unfortunate. Nevertheless, the Baldur’s Gate 3 community itself is still going strong. As the game’s official support ends, massive mod teams are creating custom campaigns that take players back to areas from the second game, and Larian has left players with a seemingly endless amount of content to chew through. WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMMarvel Rivals’ costume customization feels fresh but piles extra costs onto already pricey skinsYou can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Contents hide Marvel Rivals Season 2, with its most recent patch on April 17, added a dazzling array of additions to NetEase Games’ hero shooter, including the highly anticipated costume customization system. Customize: Costume Colors is a new feature that allows players to change the color palettes of chosen high-rarity skins, adding a new level of personalization to heroes such as Luna Snow, Magik, Winter Soldier, and Psylocke. At first glance, it appears to be a vivid addition to a game already well-known for its comic-inspired graphics and frenetic gameplay. The prospect of personalizing classic Marvel characters to own preferences is obviously appealing, particularly in the Hellfire Gala-themed Season 2, where design reigns supreme. However, beneath the glossy veneer sits a thorny issue: the game’s monetization. Players have expressed their anger with the requirement for a new currency, Unstable Molecules, to enable these color changes, on top of the already high prices for luxury skins. While Marvel Rivals has established a reputation for generosity through free skins and events, this decision appears to be a step toward predatory microtransactions, alienating free-to-play players, and raising concerns about the game’s long-term accessibility. New Marvel Rivals custom skin color feature feels like a cash grab The costume customization feature in Marvel Rivals falls short due to its limited and expensive implementation. Players must first purchase luxury skins, which are often priced around 2200 Lattice (approximately $20-25), and then spend an extra 600 Unstable Molecules, equivalent to $6, for a single color palette. Unstable Molecules can be exchanged 1:1 with Lattice to unlock custom colors. Image by VideoGamer. This layered barrier diminishes the feature’s allure by tying personalization to additional purchases rather than increasing the value of existing cosmetics. Unlike games like Fortnite, where skins frequently feature free secondary style variations, Marvel Rivals’ approach is exploitative, especially given that just a few legendary skins now support customization. The addition of Unstable Molecules as a new currency confuses the game’s already complex economy, which includes Lattice, Units, and Chrono Tokens. Players have already slammed the feature, with some calling it “insanely expensive” and condemning NetEase for turning recolors, a low-effort tool, into a premium offering. For a game that prides itself on accessibility, with all heroes free to unlock, this decision risks alienating its free-to-play audience, making customization appear like a luxury for big spenders rather than a universal benefit. Marvel Rivals players want free costume customizations for expensive skins Upon the release of this feature, several players on social media have voiced their opinions on why adding another currency in the game adds to the confusion and thus declared Unstable Molecules unnecessary. One such player wrote, “Why another currency? Why couldn’t it just be challenges or something? At this point, we’ll have dabloons and smackaroos by season 5.” Another chimed in, “It’s weird how we can buy the actual costume for units, yet the recolor needs paid currency.” To those unaware, Unstable Molecules are exactly what the costumes of Fantastic Four members are made of. Looks like Reed is charging everyone for a glow-up to their costume using his molecules. Doom would’ve done that for free for everyone, but that’s something we’ll see in the future, as NetEase has expressed interest in bringing more ways to earn this currency, even for free. The Finals update 6.4.0 patch notes have just been shared, and they deliver a couple of big weapon buffs and nerfs, along with some new items in the store to get you in the Easter mood. Tuning weapons for precision, flipping the switch on full-blown gameshow madness, and suiting up in some of our most stylish sets yet. Gameplay-wise, we’re making targeted balance changes to two of the Arena’s most talked-about weapons. The CB-01 Repeater gets a boost to its environmental damage, making it far better at dealing with deployables and ziplines, while the Minigun receives a notable accuracy upgrade when focus-firing. We’re not touching the spin-up mechanic just yet, but it’s something we’re actively evaluating as the season progresses. Week 2 of Bunny Bash is also live now, with a new circuit of event contracts for you to complete for some amazing rewards! World Tour: Protocol Overdrive (Sponsored by ENGIMO) ENGIMO is redefining chaos – again. In Protocol Overdrive, gameshow events don’t just show up once per match – they hit back-to-back, dropping contestants into a relentless gauntlet of environmental hazards and alien mayhem. Expect short moments of calm between bursts of absolute madness, with Meteor Showers and Alien Invasions shaking up the mid-game and forcing players to adapt on the fly. There’s barely time to breathe before the next disaster hits. Arenas in rotation: SYS$HORIZON Bernal Kyoto Las Vegas Stadium Over in the store, we’ve got a wild lineup of new cosmetics ready to drop: Night Munchies Set“Carrots optional, casualties guaranteed.” Suit up in the Predator Payload outfit, complete with Assault Rabbit headgear and glowing Warren Glare eyes. Fluffy on the outside, ruthless on the inside.Arena Vision Set“For contestants who see every angle in THE FINALS.” Featuring the Sappy Ending skin for the Cerberus, Sledgehammer, and SR-84. Because every story should end with a bang.Opulent Heavy Bundle“Devastating luxury, tailored for destruction.” Dominate the battlefield with Skullbound Oblivion skins for the Shak-50, Flamethrower, and M60 – dark, ominous, and absurdly stylish. Balance Changes Weapons CB-01 Repeater Increased environmental damage from 8 to 18 Dev Note: With the previous environmental damage value the Repeater had a tough time destroying ziplines. This change should help to address that. M134 Minigun Decreased bullet dispersion when standing still and ‘focus firing’ (secondary fire) by approximately 10%, making the weapon more accurate Decreased bullet dispersion when moving and focus firing by approximately 10%, making the weapon more accurate Dev Note: We really like that the spin-up time of the Minigun encourages players to adopt a different style of play to other weapons when using it, such as making use of various shields to protect while spinning up, or using Proximity Sensors to provide an early warning that gives time to spin-up. Because of this, despite some feedback that the Minigun is a little underpowered, we’re reluctant to address that by reducing the spin-up time and making the gun more responsive, as this risks it simply turning into another LMG. Instead, we’re making an adjustment to the weapon’s accuracy to make it slightly more effective at range. Performance wise, our data is showing the Minigun performing somewhere in the middle of the pack, so we’re reasonably happy with how it’s behaving. We do feel that ‘juggling’ and maintaining the spin-up state while moving is a little too easy right now, so it is our intent to review that and potentially change it later this season, as we do really want using the Minigun to commit players to being prepared in how they play, but it’s likely that if that change does go ahead, it will come with some other tweaks to offset that change. We’ll see exactly where we go with that as the season goes on. For more The Finals, check out our guide to the best weapons in the game ranked, and we also have a guide to the best gadgets. WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMNew Marvel Rivals costume customistion feature lets you edit your favourite skinsYou can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here NetEase Games has confirmed that Marvel Rivals players will now be able to customise their favourite skins in the popular hero shooter. Arriving tomorrow, players will be able to change the look of costumes on every character in the game using preset palletes. Following the release of Marvel Rivals Season 2, which brought new heroes like Emma Frost, this new feature aims to offer even more freedom for players. “Unleash your style – Costume Customization is here!” reads the feature’s description. “You can change your favorite costumes’ color combos directly in the Costumes tab. Just head to the Store, grab your unlock, and dive into the look that fits your vibe. Your outfit, your rules. Make the battlefield your runway.” These are just a few of the new Marvel Rivals palletes coming to the game. The new feature will be available in all versions of Marvel Rivals starting April 17 at 9:00 AM UTC/2:00 AM PDT. The current list of costume customisation includes Plasma Pulse, Phantom Purple, and more with additional options arriving in future updates. It’s not known if any costumes in the game will be limited by the customisation system. However, considering the game’s rather limited options for a number of characters, this is a quick way of bringing way more variety to the hero shooter. While the game’s pricey skins like the controversial Malice and others have proven very popular, there is also a wish to earn more easy skins. With a system like the new character customisation option, this allows NetEase to create easy, low-risk options for players who don’t want to continually drop money on the game. (We also expect palletes to arrive in battle passes, but that isn’t confirmed.) Check out how we test and review games here With the Nintendo Switch 2 specs, price, release date and games now out in the wild, there’s a lot of excitement for the new console/handheld hybrid. Alongside the typical studios like EA, Activision and more, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed that they will be continuing to support Nintendo players into the next generation. Xbox games will come to Nintendo Switch 2 In a recent interview with Variety, Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed that the company will continue to bring new Xbox games to Nintendo Switch 2 when available. As the company moves away from the typical console exclusivity format with games like Indiana Jones and The Great Circle coming to PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 support was expected anyway. While Spencer wouldn’t confirm if games like the new Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster or the upcoming Fallout 3 Remaster would launch on the new handheld, Xbox is dedicated to bringing new games to the console when appropriate. “We’ve been supporting Switch 1, I want to support Switch 2,” Spencer confirmed. “Nintendo has been a great partner. We think it is a unique way for us to reach players who aren’t PC players, who aren’t players on Xbox. It lets us continue to grow our community of people that care about the franchises that we have, and that’s really important for us to make sure we continue to invest in our games.” Spencer explained that he’s a “big believer in what Nintendo means for this industry and us continuing to support them”. The Xbox boss said that bringing their franchises is “an important part of our future”, but wouldn’t reveal whether that meant upcoming games like the Halo: Combat Evolved Remake would come to Switch. Xbox’s plans to support the new Nintendo handheld in some capacity has not been a secret. In the company’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Xbox promised to bring Call of Duty to the company’s hardware, which has still not happened. With this in mind, the Nintendo Switch 2 could be the first Nintendo device to receive a Call of Duty game since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts. Subscribe to our newsletters! Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Helldivers 2 fans are anticipating new content. For the full squadron of squids, leaks have revealed “Illuminate Gravitational Monoliths,” meanwhile, other leaks have revealed a maximum level increase from 150-200. While new content is anticipated, a lot of HD2 players are not happy with the game’s current performance. Neither are Arrowhead as the Helldivers 2 devs are “100% aware performance ain’t great” right now as they continue to work on a new update for which some fixes are confirmed. Helldivers 2 devs discuss performance and next update On the Helldivers Discord, Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, has responded to complaints about the game’s performance. The CEO assured fans that Arrowhead are “100% aware performance aint great now,” and they are “tracking closely and have numerous things in motion”. The developer will be sharing “details in the not too distant future”. As for why performance issues have arisen, Jorjani explained that “the more [Arrowhead] add in terms of content the tougher performance becomes,” and the developer “then have to do a bit of housekeeping”. The hope is that, in the future, Arrowhead will “be able to add content that has less impact”. Image credit: Helldivers Discord We don’t have a date for the next update, but Arrowhead QA Lead, JoJo, has said that it is actively being worked on and will arrive “when it’s done”. Some fixes are already finished, but just because a fix is ready “doesn’t mean [Arrowhead] can ship it without introducing the risk of more issues”. While Arrowhead is actively working on the next update, JoJo has said that issues with anti-aliasing have been resolved. The QA lead also stated that “performance is a major focus” and that the next update will have “as many bug fixes as possible”. In addition, the developer is “actively” working on a fix for the infamous “torso divers” bug. Image credit: Helldivers Discord This is all we know about the next update. It appears that it will be performance-based with fixes for bugs rather than weapon balancing. As for lingering complaints about issues with the Eruptor, these are confirmed to not be a bug, but JoJo has repeated that Arrowhead are “still unhappy with it”. These include screenshots of gameplay such as the below images: Image credit: Bethesda Image credit: Bethesda While we still don’t know when the remaster is coming out, renowned insider, Jeff Grubb, claims its release date will fall in “the week of April 21st” as a shadow drop. According to the leaked images, it will also be available on PS5 and PC via Steam, as well as Xbox Game Pass on day one. There is no mention of the Nintendo Switch 2. Details are slim as of writing, but, in January, MP1st reported the game is a “fully remade” version of Oblivion in Unreal Engine 5, and it reportedly includes reworked systems such as stamina, sneaking, blocking, archery, hit reaction, and HUD. It’s also claimed that the new blocking system takes inspiration from Souls-likes. Hopefully the remaster comes out next week as rumors claim. WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMThe Witcher 3 director says AI will never “replace that human spark”, no matter what techbros thinkYou can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here As games like The Finals opt to use AI voices instead of human actors, some of the best performers in the business are actively rebelling against AI voice technology. In a recent interview, The Witcher 3 performance director Kate Saxon explained that, no matter what hordes of Twitter techbros think, AI voices can’t “replace that human spark” that makes stories so great. Speaking to EDGE Magazine in Issue 409, Saxon explained that she doesn’t see AI ever replacing actors in their entirety. While AI could be used for pick-ups of adding minor lines, the vast majority of strong performances will still be powered by talented actors. “I just don’t see it ever fully replacing actors” Saxton told EDGE Magazine (via GamesRadar) “At least not in the kinds of games that truly care about strong storytelling, rich characters, and meaningful dialogue.” “There’s something missing [when using AI] something you can’t quite quantify – that lifts a performance from decent to genuinely moving,” they continued. Saxton’s work in the video games industry has been record-breaking. Alongside working in theatre and TV, Saxton has brought killer performances to Alien: Isolation, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Far Cry 3 and more. “Actors bring more than just their voices [to games],” the performance director. “They bring life experience, their instincts, their emotional intelligence.” As games become have become infinitely more complex, performances have also become more complex. While amazing voice acting is still important, it’s also been matched with professional motion capture with games like The Last of Us and Baldur’s Gate 3 having performers completely act out their scenes. This had led to some incredible moments such as Astarion actor Neil Newbon ad-libbing the character’s best moment, or Lae’zel’s actress subtly changing her performance as her character grows. Saxton is right, performing is much more than just saying the lines, it’s feeling them, and AI can’t feel anything. For The Witcher 3 specifically, CD Projekt RED’s game features some truly majestic performances. Doug Cockle’s Geralt is perfect, and the recently-passed William Roberts’ performance as Vesemir could never be replaced. It’s a game filled with amazing performances, and The Witcher 4 will be as well. WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMLatest Marvel Rivals exploit makes hero most powerful healer in Season 2You can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Marvel Rivals Season 2 sparked the competitive scene with a massive balance patch, new heroes, and maps that reshaped the game’s dynamic. Emma Frost, together with the Krakoa map, introduces new strategies to the 6v6 hero shooter. NetEase’s patch notes reveal buffs and nerfs for practically every class to diversify team compositions and counter Season 1’s support-heavy supremacy. Vanguards such as Hulk and Thor received mobility, while Doctor Strange and Magneto were nerfed, lowering their pick rates. Duelists like Winter Soldier had changes to temper their ferocity, while Strategists like Rocket Raccoon received considerable modifications. The meta currently favors fast-paced, dive-oriented play, with Emma Frost emerging as a game-changer in backline management. The patch also changed Team-Up abilities, removing synergies like Magneto’s Metallic Fusion and introducing new ones like Namor’s Gamma Monstro with Hulk. During this patch, one Strategist rose to prominence, redefining the healer role, and it’s none other than Rocket Raccoon. Rocket’s Season 2 buffs have transformed him into a powerhouse, with a tweak in his kit sparking debates about his dominance—an exploit that’s quietly making him the go-to healer. Marvel Rivals Rocket Raccoon bug makes him overpowered in Season 2 by doubling his healing rate In Marvel Rivals Season 2, Rocket Raccoon gains balance adjustments that elevate his role as a Strategist, giving him a meta-defining choice. His ultimate, C.Y.A., receives a significant overhaul: the damage boost is lowered from 40% to 25%, but it now offers linked teammates 100 Bonus Health per second, with a limit of 150, and a 75 per second falloff after breaking the link. His Healing Orbs have also been tweaked, with healing per second reduced from 70 to 50, but a new 55-health burst on hit improves his ability to save low-HP friends swiftly. Bounce Rocket’s Orbs to apply a double healing bonus to allies. Image by VideoGamer. However, players soon found out that upon bouncing these orbs off the floor and a wall to heal allies, this 55 bonus healing burst twice on the healed ally. While a normal hit heals an ally at the usual rate, this bounce tricks the system by implying there are two different orbs fired at a teammate, thus granting a whopping 110 healing boost. Upon trying this feature out, one player clarified that the exploit is an intended feature and not a bug, “This was confirmed to not be a bug, but rather an intended feature. Whoa! Be sure to be ground-bouncing those Rocket orbs for RIDICULOUS heals!” Despite a nerf to Jetpack Dash (cooldown raised from 6 to 10 seconds, distance lowered from 10 to 8 meters), Rocket’s mobility remains high, complementing his improved healing output. These modifications improve his performance in clutch situations, ensuring his viability in high ranks and rush-style combinations. WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMNightdive pitched a true GoldenEye 007 Remaster, but Nintendo wouldn’t play ballYou can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Rare’s iconic Nintendo 64 FPS GoldenEye 007 is a game that spent decades trapped in rights management Hell. While the game is now playable on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, the new version isn’t the shiny remaster fans really wanted for the game. In a recent interview, Nightdive Studios head Stephen Kick explained that the renowned remaster team pitched a huge remaster for the beloved James Bond game. However, Nintendo didn’t want to let the studio have their stab at bringing the game back to modern players. Nintendo stopped another GoldenEye 007 Remaster In a talk with VGC, Kick explained that Nightdive constructed a “dream team” to remaster the Nintendo 64 game properly. In the past, the studio had already worked with other beloved N64 titles, bringing back the Turok games to modern platforms better than ever. While the current version of GoldenEye on modern platforms is decent enough, Nightdive’s remastering efforts have been extensive. Turok brought modern rendering features, higher draw distances, better controls and more to the game, and the studio’s Star Wars: Dark Forces Remastered is an absolute game-changer. Nightdive successfully brought MGM/Eon, the rights holders to James Bond, on bord and put “a lot of effort” into pitching the game. Unfortunately, the remaster all fell apart when it came to asking Nintendo for permission. “It was: ‘OK, we’re ready to go.’ ‘Well, did you guys get the rights from Nintendo?’ ‘Wait a minute, we thought you had that.’” Kick said. “And then Nintendo was like, ‘Yeah, no third party’s ever going to touch any Nintendo stuff, ever.’” While Nightdive’s work on the Turok games had pulled Nintendo’s gaze towards the team, the company refused to make an exception to its very tight rule. The team explained that Nintendo’s response “was kind of minimal”, but they weren’t going to let the team touch any of their properties for a real remaster. This isn’t the only time a proper remaster of GoldenEye 007 has been shut down. During the Xbox 360 era, Rare created an entire remaster of the game with new assets, modern controls and more for the Xbox Live Arcade service. Just like the studio’s amazing re-release of Perfect Dark, the game wouldn’t been a great way to play the old N64 game, but it was also scrapped due to certain partners not playing ball. Nowadays, we can play GoldenEye 007 on Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch, and that 360 version has been shared online for gamers with the technical know-how to play. WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMFortnite announces unexpected downtime on TuesdayYou can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here It’s Tuesday, and we have another Fortnite downtime. This time, however, there is no big update. Epic Games will take servers down for the release of a hotfix. The good news, however, is that more content will arrive later in the day, including a new Fortnite Reload map. Besides Fortnite servers going down for a brief period, Epic will also perform maintenance on its online services. This process begins at 5 AM UTC and will last for up to seven hours. When will the Fortnite downtime end? Fortnite servers will go down at 6 AM Eastern Time (10 AM UTC) on Tuesday morning. Considering that most downtimes begin two hours earlier, this one is certainly odd. What makes it even more unusual is the fact that there will be no big update during the server downtime. Instead, Epic will only deploy a hotfix. Fortunately, the downtime will last for only an hour. Epic expects it to end at 7 AM ET (11 AM UTC), so the game will not be unavailable for too long. Unfortunately, the game developer will perform the maintenance on the Epic Online Services at the same time, and this is something that will last for approximately seven hours. During the downtime, each Fortnite mode will be unavailable. Image by VideoGamer The EOS maintenance is expected to be performed between 5 AM and 12 PM UTC on Tuesday. During this process, several services may experience degradation, including session invites, lobbies, and peer-to-peer communication. It’s important to note that this maintenance will affect other games that use Epic Online Services, not just Fortnite. While today’s downtime won’t bring new content to Fortnite, Epic will enable several new things later in the day. This includes Slurp Rush, a new Reload map, and potentially Vanguard Zadie, another free skin. From his intensely emotional E3 2016 reveal to the end of Ragnarok’s free Valhalla expansion, the composer delivered some of the best music ever in a Western AAA video game. Speaking to VGC in an upcoming podcast episode, McCreary explained that he feels like his work on the God of War franchise is done with the closure of the Norse Saga. However, the composer is also open to return to the series if he’s asked. Bear McCreary “feels complete” with God of War In the unreleased podcast episode, McCreary explained that he believes his work with the series feels like a complete story. After attending the God of War 20th Anniversary Retrospective Gallery and seeing the history of the franchise, it cemented his feeling that his particular era is over. “It was quite moving to realize how many people had been involved and that no single person has been involved in all of them in any kind of primary capacity,” the composer said. “There’s been a sort of brain trust of people that go back to the first game.” “It brings a sort of closure to Kratos’ arc, so I feel like my contribution, starting with E3 2016 all the way through to Valhalla, feels complete,” he continued. “I feel complete. I feel like I told a story.” When asked if he would be willing to return to the series anyway, McCreary didn’t close that door. “If there’s anything else that needs music moving forward, they’ve got my number,” he replied. “Everybody’s got my number, I’m here. I’m really proud of what I did.” While the Norse Saga might be over, there have been rumblings of a new God of War Trilogy starting in an Egyptian setting. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here GSC Game World has officially released the first step in its long-awaited Stalker 2 roadmap, detailing new fixes and additions to the survival game. After a long wait, the expected year-long roadmap is no longer releasing, but the team has committed to releasing quaterly roadmaps as it continues to improve the game. Announced on Discord, the team explained they are “breaking the roadmap down into quarterly updates. Every three months, you’ll get the full scoop on what’s coming. Patch notes will confirm when it’s live in-game.” Stalker 2 Q2 2025 roadmap In the first quarterly roadmap of the year, GSC Game World revealed a tonne of new changes coming to the game. Most importantly, the game’s busted A-Life system is receiving a massive overhaul with “persistent A-Life Improvements, smarter human combat” and better mutant AI. In future updates, mutants will “eat corpses” left around the Zone and properly react to threats from all entities. Additionally, mutants will now have useful loot that players can scavenge and sell at vendors across the Zone. Secondly, the beta Mod Kit SDK will be released alongside a mod guide to better support mod creators. While modders have already made some amazing additions like Stalker Infinity, this should result in the ability to make brand-new story quests, locations and much more. The game’s modding also comes with integration for both Mod.IO and Steam Workshop integration. It’s not known if Mod.IO integration will also be present on Xbox Series consoles. Alongisde these additions, GSC Game World is also adding two new weapons to Stalker 2 for players to find as well as increasing the player stash window. Additionally, the team is working on further stabilization, optimisation and fixes for anomalies. This is all set to arrive in the first quarter of 2025 with even more fixes and additions coming later in the year. With GSC planning to add heaps of cut content to the game as well as expansions in the future, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has a lot of life left in it. WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMMSI Claw leak claims Intel is out and AMD is in as new handheld follows everyone elseYou can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here The bulky-but-powerful Steam Deck competitor MSI Claw is reportedly abandoning its Intel SoC for AMD in a new 2025 refresh. Following the majority of handheld PCs, an upcoming refresh of the handheld will no longer be powered by the beefy Intel chips the handheld is known for. According to Igor’s Lab, MSI is considering a switch to the AMD Ryzen Z2 AI Extreme APU for its next-generation MSI Claw handheld. The current incarnation of the handheld—the MSI Claw 8 AI—uses an Intel Core 7 258V and offers some great performance, but the new AMD chips could prove even better. MSI Claw AMD could be one powerhouse handheld Via the report, unofficial benchmarks of the Ryzen Z2 AI Extreme at a 17 watt TDP offers around 20% better performance compared to the ASUS ROG Ally X. As the current king of handheld PC power, this means that the new Claw would be a substantial upgrade, especially as the APU could be set to a massive 35 watts should users want that extra power. With Valve opening up SteamOS for other handhelds, the new MSI Claw could even launch with a SteamOS variant, offering up even more performance. While it would trade-off compatibility with some titles, performance has often been proven to be slightly better for games via Proton than natively running through Windows. As potentially the most powerful PC handheld on the market, we’re only set to wonder what Valve’s eventual Steam Deck 2 will look like. As the company has shut down the prospect of constant revisions, it’s going to be years until we see an official Steam Deck follow-up, this time in a very stacked market. Additionally, Xbox is also entering the handheld market with its own bespoke PC portable. While the Steam Deck is still, by far, the most convenient handheld, it’s also placed in a much busier market than ever before. Related Topics MSI Claw Subscribe to our newsletters! WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMMarvel Rivals reveals new purpose for Lord iconsYou can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here NetEase’s decision to introduce Lord icons in Marvel Rivals was certainly a great move. While these icons primarily showcase a player’s proficiency level, they aren’t necessarily a reflection of skill, but rather of the time and dedication spent mastering heroes, as most of these icons require playing a hero for approximately 20 hours. According to Danny Koo, executive producer at Marvel Games, Lord icons will soon take on an additional purpose. Koo recently revealed a few more things coming to the game, including Legendary skins for everyone. Lord icons will be added to the Marvel Rivals hero selection wheel At the beginning of every match, players need to select their heroes. This is done through a selection wheel, which is the first thing everyone sees after the loading screen. For now, the selection wheel has default icons for every hero. However, NetEase will add Lord icons to it, Danny Koo revealed on X (formerly Twitter). The executive confirmed that the feature is on NetEase’s to-do list, though its release date remains uncertain. It may be introduced with the release of Season 2.5, which is expected to come in late May. While not a groundbreaking addition, this feature will provide players with added motivation to enhance the proficiency rank of their favorite heroes. Default icons can be upgraded after completing hero-specific quests. Image by VideoGamer Since the game has been out for more than four months, many players have earned Lord icons for their favorite heroes. Due to this, it will be interesting to see if NetEase will add another proficiency level to Marvel Rivals in the future. For now, we have a lot of new content to enjoy with the release of Season 2. Besides the new map and Emma Frost, the season also brings seven free skins that are available to everyone. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Season 2 of Marvel Rivals brought a new map, Krakoa: Hellfire Gala. This is a Domination map that features portals and a beautiful landscape. While we are still in the first week of the new Marvel Rivals season, the latest leak reveals another map coming soon. As expected, NetEase will release a new map with Season 2.5, which is set to arrive in late May. In this article, we will take a detailed look at the leak and reveal everything we know about the map. The latest Marvel Rivals leak shows details about the new map According to X0X_Leak, one of the most reputable leakers, the next map will be Arakko. The leaker shared several details about it even before Season 2 came out, revealing that it will be a map. This information was confirmed by Miller Ross on Friday, who also claims that Arakko will be a new Convoy map in Marvel Rivals. Ross, who’s leaked big things in the past, believes that the Season 2.5 update will also bring Ultron, a new Strategist. Ultron’s abilities in Marvel Rivals have already been leaked, and it appears that he will be a flying healer. Furthermore, the leaker claims that the mid-season update will arrive on May 30. The Krakoa map arrived with the Season 2 update. Image by VideoGamer It’s important to note that none of these details have been confirmed by NetEase. Due to this, we will have to wait a few more weeks to find out more information about the big mid-season update. We are, however, hoping that the leak is accurate, as adding a flying Marvel Rivals Strategist would be a great move by the developer.. For now, Season 2 offers plenty of new content, including seven new free skins. Emma Frost, the game’s newest Vanguard, is also out, and she’s been very fun to play. WWW.VIDEOGAMER.COMMarvel Rivals exec teases Legendary skins for everyoneYou can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here Over the past four months, NetEase has launched a variety of incredible skins in Marvel Rivals. Some were available for free, letting players earn new cosmetics just by playing, while others were part of the Battle Pass. Although several heroes have yet to receive a Legendary skin, that’s about to change. With Season 2 launching on Friday, NetEase dropped tons of new content, from the amazing Emma Frost to a new map. Although the update was massive, this is just a glimpse of what NetEase has in store. Everyone will get a Legendary skin in Marvel Rivals Danny Koo, the executive producer at Marvel Games, recently unveiled an exciting plan for in-game cosmetics. One of the players requested a Legendary skin for The Punisher on X (formerly Twitter), as this iconic character only has three skins besides a default one, with two of them being recolors. Koo did not reveal anything about The Punisher’s skin, but he did reveal that everyone will get a Legendary skin at some point. “Everyone will have legendary skin. Time will tell,” the Marvel Games executive replied. The skin’s rarity is determined by its design, not the actual rarity. Image by VideoGamer Frank Castle is not the only character who doesn’t have a Legendary skin in Marvel Rivals. Some others, like Psylocke, Black Panther, and Scarlet Witch are in the same boat. While all of these heroes have fantastic cosmetics, it’s important to note that Legendary skins come with extra features, such as special voice effects or unique animations. The rarity of the skin is determined by its design, as Rare skins are mostly recolors, while Epic ones have new character models. Considering that Legendary skins offer even more, it’s no surprise that many players want them. After all, let’s be honest, it’s a shame that Star-Lord doesn’t have a LE-GEN-DARY skin, right?
