PlayStation’s annoying regional restrictions on PC games have proved infuriating for gamers all across the world. While most gamers were unaffected, those in some regions found themselves unable to play games like Helldivers 2 and other titles due to the restrictions.
Thankfully, after months of complaints, it appears that PlayStation is finally removing the regional restrictions of its PC releases for a large number of countries. However, not every title has been altered at the time of writing.
Regional restrictions removed from Helldivers 2 and more
As spotted by players online, a number of Steam database updates have changed the regional restrictions of PlayStation games on PC.
Games such as Helldivers 2, Spider-Man 2, God of War: Ragnarok and The Last of Us: Part 2 are now available to purchase in a large number of additional countries. The change appears to be rolling out to PlayStation PC releases at the time of writing.
It’s been a long time coming, and the introduction of the restrictions last year was a huge controversy for the company. Since the restrictions were put in place, players who previously purchased Helldivers 2 were unable to play the title online without a VPN.
Additionally, Ghost of Tsushima could be played in a number of countries, but its Legends multiplayer mode was inaccessible due to the regional issues.
Honestly, PlayStation should’ve removed these restrictions far quicker than they initially did. However, the phrase “better late than never” exists for a reason, and we’re happy that more gamers around the world are no longer punished for simply being born in a different country.
For more PlayStation news, read the company’s recent comments about the next generation PlayStation 6 console. Additionally, read about potential PS Plus price increases that could be on the way as the company aims to “maximise profitability”.

This Marvel Rivals hero became unstoppable after the controversial change
You can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here
Season 2.5 of Marvel Rivals has completely shaken up the competitive meta. Ultron, a new Strategist, has performed much better than the community had expected him to, while Peni Parker has had the highest win rate ever since the season was released. Many other heroes have been changed, but one in particular has surpassed all expectations.
In this article, we will dive deeper into Marvel Rivals win rates in Season 2.5. The situation has drastically changed over the past month, and some of the balance changes have turned out to be the right move.
Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 has skyrocketed Jeff’s win rate
With the release of Season 2.5, NetEase introduced a major rework for Jeff the Land Shark. The fan-favorite Strategist went through ground-breaking changes, which forced players to change their playstyle. Initially, the community believed that Jeff was nerfed to the ground. However, this Marvel Rivals rework has turned out to be the right move.
So far this season, Jeff the Land Shark holds a 46.39% win rate. While this is certainly not impressive, it actually surpasses the win rates of Invisible Womanand Luna Snow, both of whom are considered amazing healers.
Jeff’s win rate has been much better in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5. Image by VideoGamer
In addition to this, Jeff is the hero with the largest win rate increase in comparison to Season 2, as it increased by 4.35%. The only other hero with a comparable change is Peni Parker, whose win rate has jumped by 4.09%.
Jeff is still far from a top-tier character in the game. However, there is no denying that he’s now a viable pick who can keep his teammates alive while also eliminating the enemy team. With Marvel Rivals Season 3 dropping in a few weeks, we expect even more balance changes to come out. While NetEase may buff Jeff even more, he seems to have reached a balanced “sweet spot” that doesn’t require immediate adjustments.

Fortnite just announced extended downtime for the next season
You can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here
The past two days have been very exciting for Fortnite players. The upcoming season was leaked, including its map changes and weapons. On top of this, leakers showed all the new skins coming to the game, split among three seasonal passes. However, before all of this new Fortnite content comes out, there is another downtime that we will have to go through.
Since a new season is around the corner, the Fortnite downtime will last longer than usual. Fortunately, the update is available for pre-download, so console players can grab it and log into the game once the downtime ends.
How long will be the downtime for the new Fortnite season?
The downtime for the new season began at around 2:20 PM Eastern Time, right after the conclusion of the live event. Interestingly, Epic Games announced that the new season would be released on the same day, which is quite unusual. In the past, the game developer mostly released new seasons at either 2 or 4 AM ET. However, this season is different.
The Fortnite creator expects the downtime to last for approximately six hours. This means that the servers should return by 8 PM ET. The downtime could finish sooner as well, although this is an unlikely scenario.
The new Fortnite season will be available after the downtime ends. Image by VideoGamer
It’s important to note that Epic Games is not always 100% accurate with these estimates. However, even in the worst-case scenario, Fortnite servers should come back up by 9 PM, barring any unexpected issues. Epic will provide any necessary updates on the Fortnite Status account on Xand its public server status page.
During the downtime, all Fortnite game modes will be unavailable, including Creative and the World.

Nioh 3 has officially been announced by Koei Tecmo, continuing the developer’s hardcore Soulslike action series on PlayStation 5. Available to try in demo form today, the new enty in the brutal action series makes some major advancements over Nioh 2.
Nioh 3 is more open than before
Confirmed during the latest PlayStation State of Play, Nioh 3 aims to be a massive advancement over its predecessor. Taking a cue from Elden Ring, the new Soulslike focuses on more “open fields” level design instead of the series’ typical linear games.
Alongside the larger environemnts, players won’t only have their usual Samurai style of combat. Instead, players will be able to switch between that and a brand-new Ninja style of fighting with much faster combat than ever before.
Nioh 3 will also continue the series’ trademark difficulty against epic boss fights with players squaring up against many Oni.

IO Interactive has shared its first official look at James Bond’s 007 First light, the studio’s AAA cinematic video game take on the iconic British spy thriller. After years of waiting, we finally have a proper look at the brand-new Bond game from the developers of the amazing Hitman series.
James Bond 007: First Light trailer released
Following the game’s first teaser years ago, IO’s first look at James Bond 007 First Light gives players a huge look at what we can expect from the upcoming action-adventure game. Powered by the team’s in-house Glacier engine, the new game will put players in the shoes of James Bond as he “earns his 007 straps”.
007: First Light will release on PlayStation, Xbox and PC sometime in 2026 and is described as the studio’s first stab at the series. Leaning on the studio’s past stealth expertise with Hitman, players will engage in the expected espionage missions while also getting to engage in some brilliant cinematic set pieces.
“In 007 First Light, follow James Bond as a young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless recruit in MI6’s training program, and discover an origin story of the world’s most famous spy,” reads the game’s synopsis.
“For the first time ever, fans will be able to experience Bond’s ascent at MI6 from a young 26-year-old recruit into a full-fledged spy – immersing them in the exotic and dangerous world of espionage captured in the films,” explains a press release sent to outlets. “Bond’s adventures will take players all around the globe, coming face to face with allies and foes, while choosing how they overcome obstacles and challenges, whether it be with brute force, cunning guile, or charming wit.”
“With 25 years of experience in creating captivating action-adventure games with the HITMAN franchise, our studio has been energized with this monumental opportunity in harnessing that expertise in bringing 007 back to video games,” said Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive. “We’re pouring our energy and passion for the franchise into creating a cinematic adventure that pushes the boundaries of what a James Bond game can be, while telling a fresh, new story. We can’t wait for players and fans to discover an experience tailor-made for them.”
IO Interactive will be revealing more information on 007 First Light later this summer, showing off the game’s deep gameplay systems, more story information and much more.

Marvel Rivals’ new Ultron Battle Matrix Mode is so cool I wish it wasn’t limited-time only

A brand-new Marvel Rivals game mode is coming to NetEase’s popular hero shooter just after the game’s massive Season 2.5 update. Focusing on the character of Ultron, this new Battle Matrix Protocol mode is so cool that it’s a shame the developers are making it a limited-time only battle.
Marvel Rivals Ultron Battle Matrix Protocol
Starting on June 6, 2025, Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol is joining Marvel Rivals. This new mode will task players with thinking more than they would during an average Rivals match. Running until June 23, 2025, this new game mode offers a brand-new way to play the hero shooter.
In Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol, “only the most tactical minds will survive”. Instead of playing a traditional match of third-person shooting, you’ll be engaging in more of an auto-battler mode with each character having their own stats.
In order to be better than your opponents, you’ll make use of a per-round currency to buy specific modules to enhance your character with better defence, more health or other bonuses. Depending on the hero, some bonuses make more sense than others, and specific hero power-ups can be grabbed as well.
It’s a seriously awesome-looking mode, but it’ll only be playable within the game for a couple of weeks. After the amount of work that must’ve been done to create the mode, it’s a shame that all of that work will be just scrapped after the event is over.
While the event goes on, players will be able to earn some exclusive cosmetics for Ultron, including sprays and more. However, the star of the show really is the brand-new game mode that will only be present for a few weeks.

Ultron buff backfires as hero becomes unstoppable in Marvel Rivals

Ultron is the newest Marvel Rivals hero who arrived on May 30. The new Strategist is a mid-season addition, which has turned out to be more powerful than players expected. There has been lots of controversy regarding his release, as he was initially deemed too weak. However, the tables have turned over the past 24 hours.
The initial data from early access suggested that Ultron may be one of the game’s weakest heroes. Due to this, NetEase gave him a powerful buff, drastically enhancing his ultimate ability. Now, after one day of the new season, Ultron is not only the most popular character but also one of the strongest.
What is Ultron’s win rate in Marvel Rivals?
After one day of Season 2.5, Ultron ranks second in Quick Play win rate with 76.09%, trailing only Iron Man. In Competitive, the new hero ranks 15th with a 49.79% win rate. While this is certainly far from amazing, it’s important to note that he is the third most successful Strategist in the game, right behind Rocket Raccoon and Mantis.
Ultron has been a far more effective Strategist than Luna Snow and Invisible Woman, who are among the 10 heroes with the lowest win rate in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5.

The latest update also brought new Team-Up abilities, and one of them involves Ultron. When paired with Iron Man, the flying Strategist gains a new ability that allows him to heal allies and damage enemies at the same time. This Team-Up has been incredible so far, winning 58.40% of games and ranking fifth among synergies.
Although this data reflects only the first 24 hours of Season 2.5, Ultron is expected to maintain his dominance, especially alongside Iron Man. The buff he received on launch day has proven effective, and we expect further balance adjustments in June.

Fortnite’s latest tweak sparks backlash from players

Epic Games released another Fortnite update on Thursday, May 29. As the last update of the Galactic Battle season, it brought new content, including the Star Destroyer Bombardment. However, the game developer also released a small interface change that sparked controversy in the community.
Fortnite is an ever-changing game, and that is a big reason for its success. Over the past seven and a half years, Epic has released numerous updates, both for gameplay and interface. However, the latest tweak does not sit well with players, and it’ll be interesting to see if Epic will revert it soon.
Fortnite made a tiny interface change with the latest update
With the latest update, Epic rearranged the order of buttons in the main menu. In the past, the first item in the menu was the search button, followed by Play, Locker, Shop, and Passes. However, this is no longer the case. The update brought a small change, rearranging the menu and changing the places of Locker and Shop buttons.
Now, when you launch Fortnite, the third item in the main menu is Shop, not Locker. Essentially, Epic Games simply switched places of these two buttons, but this small change hasn’t been received well by the community. Many players have complained about it on social media, asking the game developer to revert to the previous layout of the menu.
The Shop button is now the third item in the main menu. Image by VideoGamer
While the change has sparked controversy, it’s unlikely that Epic will revert it. After all, most players will get used to it within a week or two. With the new Fortnite season coming on June 7, the game developer will release even more changes, and some of them may affect the user interface.
With Galactic Battle in a week, Epic has prepared a big live event that will take place on the final day of the season. The event will have players sabotage the Death Star and will serve as an introduction to the next season.

Image by VideoGamer While the change has sparked controversy, it’s unlikely that Epic will revert it. Marvel Rivals continues to add new content with the bright Season 2 and mid-season 2.5 updates, which were released on April 11, 2025, and May 30, respectively. These updates have included a bunch of free cosmetics, rewarding loyal players with attractive skins for fan-favorite heroes.
Season 2, centered around the Hellfire Gala, began with the introduction of Emma Frost, as well as a new map and the Cerebro Database event. Players can obtain free skins such as Scarlet Witch’s Chaos Gown by playing nine matches and Mantis’ Flora Maiden by completing event challenges. The battle pass also includes free rewards such as Magik’s Retro X-Uniform and Iron Fist’s Immortal Weapon of Agamotto, which are obtained via Chrono Tokens without purchasing the premium tier.
Now Season 2.5 raises the bar with new Twitch Drops, and allows fans to unlock a special Emma Frost skin, emote, spray, and nameplate by watching streams for up to four hours. In addition to this, a glorious Golden Ultron skin awaits players who achieve Gold Rank in competitive play. But what about the Season 2 ranked skin? Turns out you can still claim it, and here’s how.
Emma Frost’s Golden Diamond skin is still available to unlock in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5
The Golden Diamond skin in Marvel Rivals was introduced in Season 2, where players who reached Gold Tier III rank were able to automatically claim it as soon as the new Season 2.5 update dropped. Morrowind mod Tamriel Rebuilt devs’ new update adds a city bigger than any official Elder Scrolls game, and their future project will be “twice the size”
You can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here
Tamriel Rebuilt is a massive mod for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind that adds mainland Morrowind to Bethesda’s 24-year-old RPG. Just a few weeks ago, the team released its biggest ever expansion dubbed Grasping Fortune which added the sprawling House Hlaalu capital city of Narsis.
For the massive expansion, the team spent years designing a location bigger than any official Elder Scrolls city with over 600 building interiors. However, the team is already looking planning to make another expansion that’s “twice the size” of Grasping Fortune.
Tamriel Rebuilt’s Indoril Heartland
In an interview with PC Gamer, the team behind the massive Morrowind mod revealed their plans to tackle the Indoril heartland located outside of Almalexia, the capital city of Morrowind. When the team eventually gets to properly developing the city—which will probably be “in the next few years—it will be significantly bigger.
“Almalexia is kind of like two cities, and just looking at our math, it’s about twice the size of Narsis,” said the mod’s project lead known as Cicero. “It might not be quite as dense as Narsis, just for our sanity and also for performance, but it’s gonna be twice as widespread, and it will have more buildings, for sure.”
Additionally, the mod team will also have to perform digital surgery to connect their main construction of Almalexia with the outskirts of the city that were added in the original game’s Mournhold expansion. With the team not wanting to “delete anything”, there’s a significant amount of work to do, especially as the area is actually an interior in the base game.
“You can’t really have that if you want to incorporate it into the actual mainland… it has to be implanted into Almalexia within the same worldspace, and things would have to be spread around,” the developer explained.
With the team confident that a Morrowind Remake won’t be happening ever, there’s no pressure to rush out content. After over 20 years of development, there’s still a lot of work to be done on Tamriel Rebuilt, but every expansion is a massive, complete slice of the best Bethesda RPG created by fans. Maybe it’ll be finished by 2040.

Marvel Rivals dev gives Ultron massive buff on Day 1
You can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here
Marvel Rivals has finally released its thrilling Season 2.5 update, packed with a plethora of new content, the most notable of which is the addition of Ultron, the renowned Marvel villain, as a playable Strategist. Ultron delivers unrivaled battlefield presence, with skills such as flight and drone summoning that promise to disrupt team strategy.
Along with him, the vivid Hellfire Gala: Arakko map is released, featuring a gorgeous new Convoy-style arena for furious clashes. The update also contains a new season event, Twitch Drops, and new features like as emoji communication, a mood system, and rank incentives. Players who reach Gold 3 will receive the coveted Golden Ultron skin.
The patch notes highlight balancing changes for some heroes, with Doctor Strange and Storm receiving upgrades while others, like as Groot and Captain America, receive tweaks to maintain competitive balance. Ultron, on the other hand, steals the show with huge day-one changes that increase his supremacy.
Marvel Rivals buffs Ultron’s Ult damage on Season 2.5 release day
Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 debuted, with Ultron receiving a major buff to his ultimate ability, Rage of Ultron, on day one. This buff increased the ultimate’s damage output by 33%, from a maximum of 750 to 1000, while lowering its energy demand by 15%, from 4000 to 3400.
Ultron’s Ult damage has received a massive buff after the new update. Image by VideoGamer.
These adjustments, which were noticed during the early access period, make Ultron’s ultimate more powerful and accessible, allowing him to launch devastating drone barrages that do damage to adversaries or heal friends more frequently. This change establishes Ultron as a powerful force in the game’s meta, increasing his role as a versatile support with offensive abilities.
Ultron’s equipment, as shown by leaks and trailers, prioritizes airborne mobility and tactical assistance. His primary attack, the Encephalo-Ray, is a long-range energy beam with six charges that deals burst damage, but his ability to deploy healing drones that passively restore teammates’ health from a distance adds strategic complexity. On the other hand, his health has been nerfed from 275 to 250 as seen in the teasers.
Furthermore, you can also use a certain method to cancel Ultron’s reload to keep the action going on the battlefield. The Season 2.5 meta is about to shift, with Ultron’s capacity to fly indefinitely and give persistent healing or damage, making him an important addition, potentially changing competitive strategies as players adjust to his increased presence.

Baldur’s Gate 3 should cause publishers to finally open their eyes, but veteran game devs are worried this won’t be the case
You can trust VideoGamer. Our team of gaming experts spend hours testing and reviewing the latest games, to ensure you're reading the most comprehensive guide possible. Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games here
Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 is a games industry juggernaut, and part of that is due to the fact that the team behind the epic RPG was given the time they needed to craft a truly amazing game.
BG3 not only pushes boundaries for a CRPG game, but it does so while respecting the player. You can play the game offline, you can play with friends, it has full mod support, and it doesn’t charge players for useless microtransactions. But will gaming publishers actually take the right lessons from the game’s success? Probably not.
Publishers won’t learn from Baldur’s Gate 3
In a recent interview with PCGamesN, Dragon Age lead writer David Gaider explained that publishers are sadly not going to learn the right lessons from Larian’s success.
“Here’s the hope:shows any company with an IP like Dragon Age or a good RPG IP in their basket what’s possible when you double down on committing to the genre and not approaching it with the idea that RPGs, on their own, are just this niche thing,” the writer explained.
Gaider’s thoughts have echoed that of a lot of other game developers working today, especially those who have grown tired of the issues of AAA companies. BG3 has proven that players want more dense CRPGs, but companies like EA always attempt to dilute a genre to draw in the most general audience.
“You don’t need to go ‘oh we need the action audience, we need to increase the mass appeal’ – what, because RPGs are niche and nerdy and will never achieve mass success? No,” the Dragon Age developer said. “If you double down on what that genre does well, people will– it’s the Field of Dreams method of game development, I guess.”
BioWare is the key example of publishers not listening to developers with the second game forced to release in just a year and DA4 forced to start life as a multiplayer game.
The writer explained that publishers “should” learn this lesson, but publishers simply don’t “learn lessons like that”.
“My fear is that what they start asking developers under their wing is ‘we want results like Baldur’s Gate 3,’ and the developer will say ‘okay, well I need X and Y amount of resources,’ and they’ll say ‘can you not get the same results with half of the resources you need?’” they explained.
The Dragon Age dev explains that Baldur’s Gate 3 works as a complete package, but publishers will likely look at successful components of the game and decide that they need to be quickly bolted on to their project. For example, romance, which BG3 does very well, might simply be chucked onto another RPG without the proper care and attention just to hit a checklist of features.
“I would hate for people to look at the example of Baldur’s Gate 3 and think that they can pick and choose what parts they can replicate or that it ends up being a laundry list of features, as opposed to a directive of its development,” he said.
Baldur’s Gate 3 does work phenomenally well as a complete package, and Larian Studios worked very hard to make sure that it did work well when it was cohesively stuck together. After all, the game wasn’t huge during its Early Access period, only after, and a lot of that is due to the fact that the game’s whole significantly increased the quality of its parts.
For more Baldur’s Gate 3 coverage, read about the in-development mod that aims to bring players back to the second game’s City of Coin.

The Dead By Daylight Five Nights At Freddy’s PTB is now available to enjoy on Steam. This has been the most heavily-anticipated chapter in all of DBD, and fans who own BeHaviour’s multiplayer juggernaut on Valve’s platform can now enjoy some early access via the public-test build, as well as get 200K Bloodpoints via new Twitch Drops. Here you will find the perks for Springtrap as a killer in Dead By Daylight, and you will also find how to play the FNAF PTB right now.
Dead By Daylight FNAF Springtrap killer perks
Below are the DBD perks for Springtrap as a killer in the Dead By Daylight Five Nights At Freddy’s PTB:
New Killer Perks
Help Wanted:
When you damage a generator, it becomes compromised:
When the compromised generator is completed, your successful basic attack cooldowns are 25/25/25% faster for 40/50/60 seconds.
Phantom Fear:
When a Survivor within your Terror Radius looks at you, they scream and you see their aura for 2/2/2 seconds.
This perk has a 80/70/60 second cooldown.
Haywire:
Exit gates switches with at least 50% progress regress at a rate of 40/45/50% of gate opening speed.
While they are regressing, Survivors see the exit gate lights flicker randomly.
Dead By Daylight Springtrap power, special ability and map feature
And below is Springtrap’s power along with special ability and unique map feature:
KILLER POWER: FAZBEAR’S FRIGHT
The Animatronic lived to kill, even when his mechanical costume became his tomb.
SPECIAL ABILITY: FIRE AXE
The Animatronic is armed with a Fire Axe that he can throw at Survivors. If the Axe hits a Survivor, the weapon becomes embedded in them, leaving the Survivor vulnerable. Survivors must remove the Axe before they can be healed.
MAP FEATURE: SECURITY SYSTEM
At the start of the trial, 7 Security Doors are spawned randomly throughout the map. These doors can be accessed by both Survivors and The Animatronic.
Each Security Door has a Camera attached to it. Interacting with the Door gives the Survivor access to the Camera View, allowing the Survivor to cycle through every Camera in the map, travel to the Door they are currently looking through, and potentially reveal The Animatronic’s aura to the team.
Using the Cameras and Doors too often will deplete the limited battery power available, forcing Survivors to wait until the system reboots. The Animatronic may travel between Security Doors with or without battery power.
If The Animatronic enters a Security Door, they may choose to exit from any other Door in the map. Moving to a Door already in use by a Survivor will cause The Animatronic to grab that Survivor.
All of the above FNAF power and perks come courtesy of BeHaviour’s 9.0.0 PTB patch notes.

Following a rough launch, GSC Game World’s Stalker 2: Heart of Chonobyl has received a host of major updates. While still not quite there yet, the open-world game has been massively improved by patches that re-introduce A-Life, improve weapon handling and much more.
As part of the game’s substantial Q2 2025 roadmap, GSC Game World promised that official mod tools would release for the open-world game. While the tools haven’t released at the time of writing, the developer has explained that the tools will release “soon”.
Stalker 2 Mod Tools are almost here
Responding to fans on Discord, GSC Game World confirmed that the official Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl mod tools are currently in the “final stages” of preparation before being released to the public.
“SDK Beta is on final preparations and we are ready to start it very soon,” GSC responded to fans when asked about the game’s official mod tools.
The arrival of the SDK will allow fans to create much more extensive mods for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. While mods like Stalker Infintiy already offer much different gameplay styles, these tools will allow easier implementation of new areas, weapons, enemies and much more.
When mod support is added to the game, players will also be able to download mods directly from inside the game. Mods will also be downloadable on Xbox Series consoles.
The original trilogy is also getting more support
Alongside the release of Stalker 2 mod tools, GSC also confirmed that it will be releasing detailed documentation to assist modding for the recent Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition remasters.
While the remasters have released to very negative reception, largely due to the removal of original assets, the addition of Steam Workshop support does make the trilogy attractive to modders. In order to support the modding community, the team will release documentation to help modders understand how the games work.
“We are preparing the modding guide for Steam Workshop,” GSC explained. “It is already possible to modify most of things on Steam, and hopefullymodding guide will help.”
GSC is also not finished with both the Legends of the Zone Trilogy remasters or Stalker 2. With continued patches in the works for the original games, the remasters should hopefully get much better. Additionally, a number of expansions are in the works for the sequel that will offer “fresh perspectives” on the zone.

Hideo Kojima explains Metal Gear successor Physint only exists because everyone wants him to make a new MGS game

Hideo Kojima may not be making another Metal Gear Solid game, but he might as well be. As the video game auteur wraps up Death Stranding 2, the game director is in the early stages of developing two games, his cinematic horror game OD and his espionage title Phsyint.
In an interview with EDGE Magazine, Kojima explained that he came up with the idea for the game when he was sick during the COVID-19 pandemic. The upcoming PlayStation exclusive was dreamt up while he was recovering as he saw the fan fervour for him to return to the Metal Gear series.
Psyint is made for Metal Gear fans
Speaking to the magazine, via GamesRadar, Kojima explained that he always has “lots of new ideas” that we wants to create. For example, the game director has ideas for a Death Stranding 3, although he won’t be the one to create it.
For Physint, Kojima was inspired by the fans always clamouring for him to return to Metal Gear Solid after the infamous fallout between the creator and Konami.
“When I became sick during the pandemic, I realised that a lot of people wanted me to make something like Metal Gear,” Kojima explained. “That’s when I had the idea for a new espionage game. I reflected, and thought the idea was good.”
Kojima explained that he discussed the idea with Sony and “explored many options” to return to the espionage genre. After these discussions—which the creative didn’t explain—they “agreed on doing Physint”.
The “brand-new, original IP” is described as a “next-generation action espionage game” that’s also “a portmanteau of physical intelligence”. Not much is known about the upcoming title, but many believe the game will put much more of a focus on the supernatural elements that were teased within the Metal Gear franchise.
Earlier this year, Kojima explained that the game will need five or six years of development time after Death Stranding 2 releases, likely putting the game’s release date sometime in 2030.Subscribe to our newsletters!

Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 is “a match” for Xbox Series S, but it can sometimes look even better

CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch is one of the most exciting releases for the Switch 2 launch. After an atrocious release on last-gen consoles, the intense sci-fi RPG is a powerful benchmark of what the device is capable of.
In a recent analysis of new footage provided by Nvidia, tech analysts at Digital Foundry explained that the asset quality of the game on Switch 2 is “on par” with the game’s PS4 version, albeit with better image quality. However, even more impressively, the new version has been described as “a match” for the Xbox Series S version of the game.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2 better than PS4?
In the latest episode of the DF Direct Weekly podcast, analyst Tom Morgan explained that the texture quality of CDPR’s RPG on Switch 2 manages to hit a higher resolution on the new handheld.
“What it reveals with PS4, right away, is that we’re getting similar asset quality, similar texture quality, it’s pretty much there,” Morgan explained. “What we are seeing as well is that image quality is massively improved… on the Switch version is a 720p to 1080p range… compared to what we had on PS4 which is 720p to 900p using CDPR’s own TAA.”
Morgan explained that there’s “no contest” between the two versions when it comes to the image quality between the two versions, explaining that the new handheld in “another league when it comes to sharpening up those details, clarifying noise, reducing noise across temporal shimmer which has always been a big problem with this game”.
What about Series S?
The comparison gets more interesting when compared to the Xbox Series S version of the game. While the Nintendo Switch 2’s slower CPU means that the handheld can’t have a 60fps mode like the budget-priced Xbox, it is a match for the game’s quality mode.
Thanks to DLSS image reconstruction instead of the Xbox’s use of the now-outdated FSR 2, the Switch 2 version of the game has much better image clarity on details such as clothes stitching and background fences when characters are in movement. The Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 also eliminates a lot of the shimmering issues with the game on Series S, despite technically running at a lower resolution internally.
Technically, the Xbox Series S is running at a higher resolution than the Switch 2 version, but DLSS’ improvement over FSR 2, it ends up looking substantially cleaner in static shots and it’s far from perfect. High speed driving and complex scenes can cause a lot of issues on items such as hair and small objects moving in the background.
How about that performance?
As we mentioned earlier, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be able to run at 60fps, although there will be a 720p/40fps mode, but the game’s 30fps framerate lock in the provided footage is also not perfect. When driving, the game skips frames on a regular basis with some scenes hitting a low of 20fps.
Some missions in Cyberpunk 2077 can be incredibly intensive such as the initial skirmish through the city near the game’s opening. Of course, there’s time for CDPR to improve the game and iron out some major performance issues, but as a very CPU-limited game, it’s not too surprising to see the game chug when you’re travelling through the game’s dense Night City.
