Classic WB Cartoons From Every Era Are Discounted on Amazon After the Looney Tunes Purge at Max

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. caused quite a stir when it removed the classic Looney Tunes theatrical shorts from its streaming service. Although there are still ways to watch the series online via Prime Video and Apple TV purchases, the idea that a streaming service can remove even its own content is bad news for the preservation of older media.Considering we can't trust streaming services to keep their own produced content on the platform, one alternative is to start building your own collection. Following the removal of the Looney Tunes shorts from Max, we've already seen a surge of purchases on the Platinum collection on Amazon. We're also seeing a slew of other classic WB and Cartoon Network originals getting discounts online. If you're trying to build your own archive of nostalgia that a digital platform can't take away from you, right now is a good time to do so.WB Cartoon Collections on Sale at Amazon TodayVolumes 1-3Best of WB 100th: The Looney Tunes Complete Platinum CollectionAnimaniacs: The Complete SeriesVolumes 1-3Tom and Jerry Spotlight CollectionScooby-Doo Where Are You!: The Complete SeriesThe Flintstones: The Complete SeriesPinky and the Brain: The Complete SeriesThe Jetsons: The Complete SeriesBatman Beyond: The Complete SeriesAmazon has a mix of discounts across DVD collections for both classic Warner Bros. cartoons like Looney Tunes and Animaniacs as well as Hannah-Barbera cartoons like Pinky and the Brain. Some of the complete collections that are on sale are brand new, but there are also some repackaged versions as well. If you care about receiving an unopened collection, make sure to check the details on the Amazon page before making a purchase. It's also worth noting that while the Looney Tunes Complete Platinum collection has the word "complete" in it, it doesn't necessarily include all of the Looney Tunes theatrical shorts. The same goes for the Tom and Jerry Spotlight collection, which includes only some of the best episodes of the series rather than everything. Is Now a Good Time to Buy These Cartoon Collections?Outside of the growing fears of streaming services dropping content from their platforms, we've been seeing physical media becoming more and more expensive in recent years. This is due to inflation as well as some of these collections becoming harder to find. The fact that some of these "Complete Series" options only come as repackaged versions is a testament to the stock volatility. While it's definitely possible that WB could start releasing new collections of these cartoons in the future, there's no guarantee. With the news of Looney Tunes getting dropped, as well as original cartoons like Infinity Train being removed a few years back, it's clear that Warner Bros. doesn't really care about maintaining an archive.
