Marvel Rivals is about to start getting new heroes every month as the length of its seasons gets shorter, creative director Guangyun Chen said in an update video on Thursday.Starting with season 3, Marvel Rivals seasons will last two months instead of three, which means well get a new hero at the start of the season and halfway through. After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluations, weve decided that starting from season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month, Chen said. The shorter time frame means things like the rate at which you can earn in-game currency and unlock cosmetics on the battle pass will have to change. Those details, Chen says, will be clarified before the launch of season 3, which should be in early July. This aggressive release schedule for new heroes will be considerably faster than that of its closest competitor, Overwatch 2. Blizzard only releases new heroes around every six months, with its newest hero, Freja, coming out in a few weeks. Although Marvel Rivals was able to squeeze out all four members of the Fantastic Four in season 1, NetEase Games said that was a special case and to expect two heroes per season going forward.Emma Frost will join the roster on April 11, when season 2 starts, and Ultron will arrive with the midseason update in June. The new season will also bring new team-up abilities, the ability to gift cosmetics to other players, recolors of popular skins, and a list of balance updates.
