Tourists flock to the waters edge to snap photos of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. The Presidio Tunnel Tops are just one of the winning projects recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architects New York chapter (ASLA-NY) in its annual design awards program. As in past years, winning projects span the countryfrom a pier in New York City to a park in Vancouver. Out of 94 submissions, one award of excellence, eight honorable mentions, and 20 merit awards were selected by an interdisciplinary team of professionals from the ASLA Florida chapter. Each of the projects were chosen to highlight landscape architecture with design quality, innovation, and community and professional impact. All awards will be presented at ASLA-NYs Design Awards Ceremony on April 24 at the Arsenal in Central Park and an outdoor exhibit of winning projects will be on display in Midtown during NYC DOTs Car-free Earth Day event on April 26.The list of winning projects is reproduced below.2025 ASLA-NY Award of ExcellenceThe Presidio Tunnel Tops (Courtesy of Presidio Trust)Presidio Tunnel Tops | Field OperationsBuilt on top of the tunnels of Presidio Parkway, the Presidio Tunnel Tops is an ecological 14-acre expanse serving as a public space in San Franciscos historic Presidio.
