New Deus Ex Game Reportedly Pitched To Various Publishers, But To No LuckEidos-Montreal seems to have met with some challenges recently. Following the news of the studio laying off 75 employees because it is wrapping up one of its projects, a new report suggests that its effort to revive the well-received cyberpunk RPG series Deus Ex hasn't been successful.Insider Gaming reported that a new game idea has been pitched to a few publishers. But until now, there hasn't been a partnership to bring the idea forward yet. According to the outlet's sources, although its concept has "charm and novelty," it doesn't have "expectations or standards typically associated with the Deus Ex brand;" plus, a few potential partners have been concerned that the franchise might be "too niche" at this moment. The original Deus Ex was released in 2000, and the last installment in the series, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, was released nearly nine years ago in September 2016. It's made clear that this new Deus Ex game was not the one that Embracer Group canceledin early 2024 after being in the works for two years, leading to 97 employees losing their jobs. It's also confirmed that there is no relevance between the recent layoffs and the fact that no agreement has been reached about this new game.If you're a fan of the series, you might be interested in learning more about the original plot details prepared for the sequel to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, shared by Mark Cecere, a former Eidos-Montral writer.Do you think the franchise is "too niche" for players?
