Following various teases, Bungie has confirmed a gameplay reveal for Marathon on April 12th at 10 AM PT on Twitch. This follows a rumor by Giant Bombs Jeff Grubb about the same back in February and recent tweets from individuals like Geoff Keighley about playtesting the title.Announced in 2023 as a PvP extraction shooter, Marathon is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Though not a direct sequel to the original trilogy, Bungie wants to honor the existing mythology, story, and themes. Rumors indicated that the title faced development issues leading to internal delays, with the sentiment around it reportedly not great.With Joe Ziegler taking over the directorial role and introducing playable heroes (known as Runners), Marathon will expand its playtests this year. Whether that could mean a closed beta, potentially announced during the upcoming reveal, remains to be seen.However, updates on the backend of its Steam listing hint at imminent pre-orders, so it may launch sooner than expected.
