With the console reportedly as powerful as a mid-range PC in a tiny form-factor, the console could be another giant success despite the high price of games. (And thats without potential price hikes over the US tariff situation.)Following the recent Direct, PlayStation has sent out a survey to all PS4 and PS5 gamers about Nintendos new handheld. With a new PlayStation handheld reportedly in the works, Sony is asking players about the appealing aspects of the Nintendo Switch 2.PlayStation scouts out Switch 2 thoughtsIn a survey sent to fans, via MP1st, PlayStation queried fans on how interested they are in purchasing the new Nintendo console, whether their opinion in it changed after the recent Direct, what aspects of the device they are interested in and more. One interesting part of the survey relates to the way in which Nintendo is handling pre-orders for its new console. For pre-orders directly from Nintendo, the company is giving priority registration to players who have purchased a Nintendo Switch Online membership with a minimum of 12 months of paid membership and a minimum of 50 total gameplay hours, as of April 2, 2024.While there have been no formal announcements from Sony regarding new hardware, the company has long suffered from scalpers poaching consoles, controllers and other products before actual customers can get their hands on them. After all, part of the console business relies on paying customers who continue to buy games so scalping is bad for everyone but the scalpers.Of course, there is no confirmation that PlayStation has plans to release additional hardware anytime soon. However, it would be nice to see the company adopt some of Nintendos new pre-order policies so we could, you know, actually buy things for RRP.For more Switch 2 coverage, read about the systems GameChat feature which is just like Discord but without weirdos messaging you.
