Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remake tipped to launch "at any moment" by gaming insider

And, while we've seen it ported to just about everything else since, we're about to get another Tamriel adventure — albeit a familiar one.Last month, we reported on an Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remake being tipped to launch in April — but Microsoft's relative silence had many wondering if the reports were wide of the mark.Article continues belowWhile Elder Scrolls Online keeps growing with new content and expansions, however, it appears Microsoft is planning to 'shadow drop' the Unreal Engine 5 version of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion — and it could arrive any minute, according to one new report.Speaking on a stream this week (thanks, VGC), Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb mentioned sources have told him "it's going to shadow drop at any moment this month.""It's going to shadow drop pretty soon" he added."At this rate it could come out in the next 10 minutes," one Reddit comment joked, while another said "I’m tired of hearing about it already. I wanna see how it looks already."Considering how much we've heard about the project, it does feel as though all that's left to do at this point is show us what Cyrodil looks like in Unreal Engine 5.Combat has reportedly been overhauled(Image: Bethesda/4J Studios/Superscape)The game is reportedly being developed by Virtuos, which is also apparently contributing to the Metal Gear Solid Delta project that will remake the third Metal Gear Solid title.Earlier reports suggested the Elder Scrolls IV remake will see changes made to various in-game systems from the 2006 original, with blocking during combat apparently closer to a Soulslike title.Additionally, stealth, stamina, archery and the game's HUD will be reworked, as well as hit reaction from NPCs. Oblivion was an early title for the Xbox 360, arriving just a few months after the console before being ported to PS3 the following year.It helped establish Bethesda's open-ended role-playing formula which would then be bettered by Skyrim in 2011, with Fallout 3 released in the gap between.After years of switching between Elder Scrolls and Fallout, Bethesda Game Studios released Starfield in 2023.
