Too rich for my blood. I'll see if I can get the cassettes and Cacodemon stuff separately on eBay in a few years.

The cassettes are part of the much cheaper edition which seems like a decently good deal.

I'm really confused as to what is justifying the cost except to be a meme. The box is surely just wired to some cheap Raspberry Pi like device with a cheap LCD screen. The statue can't be more than like 50 bucks. The Tamogachi maybe $20? The games...I mean the first was literally THE freeware...
Also, if you're paying 666 bucks, maybe let us have all the trading cards instead of making it a gacha system. lol

Sigh
I thought I was done buying physical console ports of Doom.
Guess I'm buying 3 more. At least there's a cheaper version with just the game.

This is a company founded on FOMO, that is the only thing explaining the cost

They ruined it with the sixty-six cents- the number is 666, not 66666.

Good quality floating pen/statue in the market are more than 50 bucks, but that price is definitely bullshit for the entire amount.

The headline $666 edition is obviously ridiculous and extremely silly, but I do want the $99 "Big Box" edition.

Seriously what's the difference between the PS5 base version of this and the previous one they did? Limited Run releasing more versions of Doom than Sony does The Last of US

The DOOM IP seems to be quite lucrative for LRG

for 666$ a mini doom arcade machine would have been much cooler than a damn box.

Pretty cool to me that it has both Sigils and Legacy of Rust on-disc.

for $666 they should be shipping a sticker that can play Doom. put the necessary microchips in the colors of the sticker and have it run there. only way the price would be justified.

No, this is very much $700 for "hyper specific thing for a small subset of collectors who must own anything and everything with the IP on"

I love old school Doom as much (probably more) than the next guy, but even I've lost count of how many times these games have been repackaged in this generation alone. Who doesn't own five copies of Doom and Doom II already?

Why is there a box that runs Doom and a Cacodemon handheld that runs Doom in the same bundle...?
The only thing I'd like is that handheld but I'd want to see if it can indeed play all of Doom on that tiny, weird shaped screen.

its a low demand/low volume and incredibly niche product so they aren't trying to sell at cost or just squeeze out a profit thats the end game with all of these "limited edition" nerd culture type of companies and releases.

They should have gone further. The game boxes should play Doom. The certificate of authority should play Doom. The trading cards and cassettes should play Doom. Lackluster effort by LRG
