ASUS Rolls Out X870 MAX Gaming WiFi7 in White and Black Editions With Latest Connectivity and Modern Features; Tackles Gigabyte's, ASRock, and MSI's Affordable Motherboard Lineups Typically, except for the Prime series, ASUS motherboards can cost comparatively higher, which has positioned MSI, ASRock, and Gigabyte in a favorable position, helping gamers and PC builders in general in building affordable systems. Even though the Prime series is decent for the most part, there are definitely features you can have from other vendors by paying a similar amount. This is about to change as ASUS is introducing one more series, set to fill the gap between the TUF and Prime series. The TUF is positioned higher than Prime and lower than ROG Strix and offers satisfactory features in the lower mid-range category. The new "MAX" series is set to offer an alternative to the TUF with some compromises but will be overall better than the Prime series. The first offering in the series is the X870 MAX Gaming WiFi7 motherboard, boasting an AM5 socket and native compatibility with the Ryzen 9000 processors. The X870 MAX Gaming WiFi7 is available in two different color themes: Black and White. The black one offers an all-black design with black PCB and heatsinks and the white edition is just the opposite. The design and specs remain the same on both but the different color schemes cater to the different demands of users. The X870 MAX Gaming WiFi7 brings 4x PCI-E x16 slots, the primary one featuring PCI-E Gen 5.0 speeds and the same standard applies to the primary M.2 slot. There are 4x DIMMs but the exact memory speed support isn't disclosed yet. We can only figure out the specs and features of the board from the pics at the moment. For storage, there are 3x M.2 slots and 4x SATA ports and connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The I/O looks satisfactory, although it doesn't have too many USB ports or stuff for troubleshooting. You will surely find the latest USB A and C ports for your peripherals, but the audio ports are missing the optical port. Currently, there is no info on its exact release date or pricing, but we can expect a price range of $200-$250.
