It's obvious why we didn't really get that in the game, but I think for the show you can easily show some of Tommy's activities in Seattle from his point of view. Also, if we're assuming they end if at the theater, I do wonder if there's a possibility that we do get the Abby vs Ellie fight already. Explosive barrels, flamethrowers, clicker-hungry dogs and enough ammunition to arm a small state are deployed in defence of the settlement; it's the sort of bicep-flexing episode you watch and think, "Ah, so this is where half of the budget went". He knows what he did by that point in the story and he's just giving her space.
