One industry insider has suggested that one Blizzard franchise is getting a Netflix adaptation, despite talks between both parties seemingly falling through a few years agoTech14:27, 14 Apr 2025Updated 14:28, 14 Apr 2025Freya is the newest addition to the Overwatch rosterIt's been a busy few weeks for Blizzard. The company confirmed that Blizzcon will return in 2026, a huge shakeup for Overwatch 2, and that next year will see a new Diablo 4 expansion. That was followed by a new roadmap for that game, as well as confirmation of a ten-year plan for the franchise, plus a recent Hearthstone expansion and World of Warcraft patch.‌Article continues belowIn all honesty, it feels as though Blizzard has been firing on all cylinders in recent months, but now one report suggests it has ambitions beyond gaming.Speaking on the Xbox Two podcast, Windows Central's Jez Corden has suggested Blizzard is perhaps working with Netflix to bring one of its iconic series to your TV screen.‌Just after the hour mark on the show above, Corden says "I'm not going to say what game it is, but there's a Blizzard franchise that's getting some kind of Netflix treatment".He also suggests the show could be revealed at Blizzcon 2026, but doesn't give any further information. It'd be fair to say Blizzard has a huge pool of tales to tell, whether the Netflix project is live action or animated.‌The studio's World of Warcraft is an MMO spanning decades, while the Warcraft franchise itself is packed with deep lore and memorable characters. It's been a hot minute since we've had a Starcraft game, but it remains close to fans' hearts, while Diablo's gory, dark world would lend itself nicely to an animated adventure.Season 15 is big, but it'll lead into even more impressive changes for Overwatch 2‌For our money, though, it feels like Overwatch is the prime candidate here.
