Indiana Jones swings onto PlayStation this week with the PS5 release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. First released in December 2024 for Windows PC and Xbox Series X, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is an immersive sim with some truly impressive cinematic bona fides. Notably, it’s also the next first-party Xbox game making the leap to PlayStation, following the likes of Sea of Thieves and paving the way for a Forza Horizon 5 port later this month. Here’s when Indiana Jones and the Great Circle releases on PS5 in your time zone, plus some details about how to play early access and what’s new with the PlayStation 5 release. How to play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle PS5 in early access You can play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5 up to two days early from April 14 — meaning you can do so now — by picking up the premium edition of the game. The premium edition of Great Circle costs $100 and includes the following add-ons: Digital art book Two cosmetics (a suit and a whip) based on The Last Crusade One cosmetic (an outfit) based on Temple of Doom The Order of Giants expansion (release date unannounced, as of this writing) Full Indiana Jones and the Great Circle PS5 release time According to a listing on the PlayStation Store, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released on PS5 at 8 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, April 16. The PS5 version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle features a number of features that weren’t present on the Windows PC or Xbox Series X versions, including DualSense haptic feedback, and support from the PS5’s internal Community Game Help hints system. It’s also a PS5 Pro Enhanced game, purportedly offering more stable frame rate at 4K resolution on the PS5 Pro. Developer MachineGames has obviously built a first-person shooter pedigree with its Wolfenstein games, so it’s natural to expect Great Circle to follow a similar action focus. To be clear, that is not what you’ll get from Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. This game is more about methodically exploring dense environments (like the Vatican or Giza) and solving puzzles from a first-person persecutive. While there are some guns in the game, the shooting is fiddly, as is the hand-to-hand combat. Expect more of a stealth-focused immersive sim than anything else in MachineGames’ recent oeuvre. It’s terrific, though, thanks in large part to Troy Baker’s excellent (like, frighteningly excellent) turn as Indy. Even Harrison Ford, who famously played the character in five films, agreed. “If I’d have known he was so good, I’d have done it myself,” said Ford on stage at the 2024 Game Awards.
