CD Projekt RED Can’t Comment on The Witcher 3 for Switch 2, “All In” on Cyberpunk 2077
News CD Projekt RED Can’t Comment on The Witcher 3 for Switch 2, “All In” on Cyberpunk 2077 CDPR's Filip Downar also clarifies that Cyberpunk 2077's Switch 2 port has been in development for "much longer" than seven weeks. Posted By Ravi Sinha | On 17th, Apr. 2025 CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, with off-screen gameplay highlighting the current state of performance. But what about the developer’s other, arguably more acclaimed role-playing game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt? It’s already available for the Switch 1, so it would make sense. Former gameplay tech design lead (and current gameplay designer on Hadar) Filip Downar couldn’t confirm to Eurogamer whether it’s ever happening. For now, the studio is “all in” on Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, and it’s “thrilled” to work with Nintendo again. “Our relationship with Nintendo goes back to the original Nintendo Switch, where we released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We were happy with how that game was received by players, so when we heard about the more powerful Nintendo Switch 2, we immediately thought it would be the perfect platform for Cyberpunk 2077.” “It’s incredibly exciting to be a launch title for this new hardware. Alongside all the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive features – like motion controls, gyroscope implementation, the mouse sensor, and more – we can’t wait to see how the community explores the game in new ways.” Downar also clarified a “misunderstanding” about the port’s development time and confirmed that it’s “been ongoing for much longer.” “Our team has been working passionately to make all this happen, and for more than seven weeks, to be clear! This misunderstanding arose because the build we showcased was finalized seven weeks before we showcased it at Nintendo. Development has been ongoing for much longer as we’re working to bring Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition to Nintendo Switch 2.” Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition launches on June 5th alongside the Switch 2, retailing for $69.99. It includes the base game, the Phantom Liberty expansion, and all the post-launch updates on a 64 GB physical cart. Cross-progression is supported to transfer saves from other platforms.
