Following multiple gameplay screenshot leaks, website failures and other issues, the game has been officially unveiled. Following months of leaks, an official livestream confirmed the existence of the long-awaited remaster. Bringing players back to the land of Cyrodil, Oblivion Remastered brings the game to Unreal Engine 5 with stunning new visuals. Oblivion Remastered includes all previously released DLC of the original Xbox 360 and PC game. This means that Knights of the Nine, The Shivering Isles and other DLC add-ons will be included alongside the main game. The new version of the iconic RPG uses Unreal Engine 5 for the game’s visual facelift while keeping the original game engine’s quirks running underneath. This means that systems like Radiant AI return in full, allowing the game to keep its unique charm. Oblivion Remastered Release Date The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster launches on April 22, 2025. That’s right, it’s available later today, and I still have to work. “Here we are 20 years later,” Todd Howard said in the livestream. “When you think about The Elder Scrolls, to us it goes beyond a game franchise. Obviously, we’re working on the sixth chapter here, but what’s great about The Elder Scrolls is being able to look at each chapter. Oblivion was a real defininig moment for the series, and also how we make games as a studio.” The new “visual update” is designed to keep the charm of the original Xbox 360 RPG, albeit with a new coat of paint. New Oblivion Remastered Features The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion features a new levelling system that is a middle point between the original Oblivion and Skyrim. Combat has also been overhauled to include hit reactions, proper effects, controller feedback and more. The game’s third-person perspective has been massively improved to be more in line with Skyrim and Starfield. This means that builds like stealth archers can still be enjoyed in a third-person view. Interestingly, each race of the game has unique voice lines that weren’t able to be included in the original release. While a lot of the quirkier original lines are still in place, Virtuos has recorded a tonne of new voice lines for players to enjoy. Oblivion Remastered Price The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is on sale for $49.99 for its base edition. The game is also available in its base form on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming on Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC and Mobile. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Digital Deluxe Edition also includes a few additional goodies. These include access to the Artbook and Sountrack App as well as the Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armour, weapons and horse armour sets. The game is available on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5 and PC.
