But Syd couldn’t design a vehicle in a vacuum. He needed to understand the city it moved through—the architecture, the signage, the clothing, the atmosphere. So instead of a single rendering, he delivered fully imagined street scenes.Impressed by the depth and vision of his work, Ridley brought Syd on to conceptualize the entire film. It was during this project that Syd was given the now-iconic title: Visual Futurist.
