Diablo 4 developers on 'very dark' Berserk crossover which was 'impossible to pass up'
Diablo 4 will kick off its first non-Blizzard IP crossover with Season 8, as it adds elements from iconic manga Berserk – here's all we learned from our chat with the devs about why the crossover made senseTech08:00, 30 Apr 2025Diablo 4's Berserk crossover arrives in Season 8Diablo 4 teased an IP crossover on its roadmap of seasonal content, and fans were surprised when it was later revealed to be with Berserk, an iconic manga series.As part of our lengthy interview series with Colin Finer, Design Director for Systems and Deric Nunez, Lead Seasons Designer for Season 8, we asked about what made Berserk the right fit for Diablo's dark fantasy world.As it turns out, the two aren't so dissimilar after all, as you can see from the stunning animated trailer below. Here's all we learned from our conversation with the Diablo 4 Season 8 team."It's our first IP collab, and we didn't want it to just be some random IP that didn't fit in the Diablo universe, right?" Finer explains."So what better way to sort of sign up with Berserk? It's very dark, it's very metal, and also really dabbles in the nuances between good and evil.Article continues below"Like it's really grey and muddy and that just fits so perfectly in Diablo that it was just impossible to pass up. When we think about all the different IP that we could collaborate with, Berserk was just number one. The team loved it right off the bat.""Really, it's doing justice to the Berserk IP as well as Diablo.
