Titanfall 3 reportedly dead as EA lays off around 300 staff at Apex Legends developer and beyond

Notably, one of those was slated to be a new game in the Titanfall franchise.‌According to a report from Bloomberg, "between 300 and 400 positions" have been eliminated, with around 100 of those made at Respawn Entertainment which works on Apex Legends and the Star Wars Jedi series.‌Content cannot be displayed without consent"As part of our continued focus on our long-term strategic priorities, we've made select changes within our organisation that more effectively aligns teams and allocates resources in service of driving future growth," a statement provided to Bloomberg explained.Respawn's own statement on X (formerly Twitter) which you can see above, confirms "targeted team adjustments" were made to its teams, while also acknowledging "these decisions aren't easy" and confirming "two early-stage incubation projects" are cancelled.Article continues belowBloomberg reports one of these was codenamed R7, and was said to be an extraction shooter in the Titanfall universe lead by Steve Fukuda, who directed the 2014 original and its 2016 sequel."Looking ahead, our commitment to player-first experiences remains unchanged.
