Check out how we test and review games here Digital Cybercherries’ adorable toy-based FPS game Hypercharge Unboxed is breaking out of its box onto PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles on May 30, 2025. The popular FPS game, which has already released on PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, is making its long-awaited PlayStation debut next month after a long period of optimisation specifically for PlayStation’s slew of last-and-current-gen consoles. Created by the 5-person team at Digital Cybercherries, the new PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 port launches with full DualSense functionality and a “super optimised” port specifically for PlayStation users. In a statement to VideoGamer, the team confirmed that a PS5 Pro Enhanced patch is also being investigated for “the future”, but a great deal of effort has gone into making sure that every platform runs as well as it possibly can. “We’re incredibly proud to announce that our action figure game, Hypercharge: Unboxed, is finally coming to PlayStation 5 and 4 on May 30, 2025, with full cross platform support,” said creative director Joe Henson. “Bringing Hypercharge to PlayStation has been a massive milestone for us. We didn’t hand it off to a porting studio. We did this ourselves, they continued. “Every bit of the PlayStation version and the cross-platform integration was built in-house by just the five of us. No publisher. No outside funding. No marketing machine. Just a small team working day and night, pouring everything we have into making this the best experience possible.” While the game has been available on other platforms for a while, Hensen explained that the small in-house team has spent many months making sure that the new version of Hypercharge Unboxed is as performance and bug-free as possible. “We’ve spent countless hours on quality assurance, optimization, and making sure it feels right,” the team told VideoGamer. “It’s taken a huge amount of time and energy, but we did it because we care. Because we believe in this game, and the community that’s grown around it. “This is more than just a release date,” they continued. “It’s a labour of love, and we’re so excited for PlayStation players to finally experience what we’ve poured our hearts into.” While this may be the last big console version for Hypercharge: Unboxed, the team is still looking to continue the game into the future. Alongside rumblings of an exciting new sequel and a potential VR port, the team still has one big mystery update in the bag to keep the game going even longer into the future.
