Revealed to us by our sources and confirmed by Microsoft earlier today, the firm is increasing the prices of its Xbox consoles, accessories, and "later this year" during the holiday season, games as well — as the industry grapples with increasing costs.
The new price increases are as follows, which includes hardware, accessories, and from the holiday season, games as well. At this time, Xbox Game Pass subscriptions are not going up.

Regions not listed above will also see price increases, which will naturally vary by currency and retailer.
With games hitting a maximum of $80 later in the year, Microsoft sources confirmed to me that, games will still be priced on a scale to reflect their scope, as is the case today. Smaller games could still come in at $50 or less, for example, while AAA big-budget titles like a new Call of Duty are doubtlessly going to hit that maximum price tier.

And naive people seriously thought old consoles and games weren't going to be affected by tariffs.

Pre-empting the "thanks Nintendo" posts over game price increases as if this wasn't where we were inevitably going to end up at some point

It's most likely a reaction to the new "maximum" set by Nintendo, as well as Microsoft's internal knowledge that GTA 6 is almost certainly going to come in at $80. Imminently upcoming Xbox games like DOOM: The Dark Ages will escape the price increase, but whatever is coming for Xbox in the fall likely won't. Expect other third-party publishers to follow suit, very soon

Brutal. I'm amazed how quickly they turned their game prices up, too. Didn't even give Nintendo a full month to soak up the bad press.

Owning a PS5, Series S, X, and getting a Switch 2 at launch is starting to feel more like smart investments than personal indulgencies lol, my portfolio is only going to appreciate in value over the next 5 years
PS6 is gonna be $1000 dollars plus, I'm calling it now

The audacity to price increase their shity Elite Controller that breaks like every 4 weeks sure is something.
The rest isn't any better. MS is delusional and the EU price increase makes zero sense considering how strong the Euro is atm.

Makes sense, these are all made in China. No way Microsoft was gonna take the hit. Sony will probably do the same if the tariffs hold where they are at. I think Sony said they were stock piling PS5? Once those run out, all bets are off.

User Banned (1 day): Console wars, previous infraction for similar behavior
Damn that is unfortunate, but on a positive side, its good that there is nobody that wants an Xbox in 2025 anyway.
And the Xbox Elite v2 controller is dogshit, so you don't need that one either!
Shame about the games though, not a good thing.

You know, usually consoles get a little less expensive at this point in the generation. Not go up in price.
I am guessing this is Tariff related though.

Yeah, this is rough. Because Sony will follow sooner than later (they have followed in Europe already). If 600 €/USD cost a current generation console, how much will it cost the next generation, 800€? Like I don't see how the world is right now people buying a 800€ console.
