The processor, which launched for €299 in Germany in August 2024, slowly dropped to a lower price and saw more frequent price cuts this year compared to 2024. Geizhals, which tracks the price of components in Germany, revealed that the Ryzen 9600X has touched €200 for the first time since launch. Both the boxed and tray versions are now affordable than ever, with the tray version dropping even below €200 slightly while the boxed version is currently at €204.89. Keep in mind that in the NA market, this will come out to be even cheaper since the €200 price tag includes 20% VAT. So, after converting the price to USD, we get around $188-$193 USD, which is nearly $75-$80 lower than the official price of Ryzen 5 9600X in the US. The processor boasts six Zen 5 cores and succeeds the Ryzen 5 7600X, which currently retails for just under $200 in Germany. The performance difference may not be very high, but considering you will get some noticeable uplifts in both gaming and productivity, the 9600X looks a more attractive option. Now, surprisingly, the Ryzen 5 9600X is even cheaper in the US, currently retailing at a price of US$185 on Amazon US at the time of writing. The 7600X is at $206, making the 9600X a solid deal right now for budget and mid-range gaming systems. AMD's Ryzen 5 9600X is one of the cheapest Zen 5 CPUs in the 9000 series, while the non-X edition doesn't enjoy great availability. AMD has yet to launch the Ryzen 5 9600X3D, which was previously rumored to be launched in Q1 2025. We don't know if there is any change in AMD's plans for its launch, but the company is also reportedly working on Gorgon Point, a new APU lineup, which will go by the Ryzen 9000G naming convention. As far as the 9600X goes, this is the best time to buy the processor, and one can pair it with a cheap 600 or 800 series motherboard to cut the cost even further. For the GPU, perhaps AMD's RX 9060 XT or NVIDIA's RTX 5060 Ti will be its best companion — the former is set to launch later this month, and the latter was already released in April.
