Shulk is kinda boring. Malos is pretty meh as well. Worst protagonist is probably spot on. Don't think 3's world is bad, but all the entries has cool worlds, one needs to be the worst. Shulk is okay and gets some cool lines but he's pretty damn boring to me. I've been a longtime hater on introducing me to a main character who's into tinkering and inventing stuff, giving him a magical sci-fi sword, and then he spends the rest of the game never again caring about how anything works despite having, y'know, the monado. There's like 1 quest about him fixing a watch and that's the sum total follow-up to his most interesting characteristic. Is it meant to be specifically FR Shulk? I consider myself a Xenoblade fan and I've played all the games on the Switch, yet I completely forgot about Gael'gar lmao. I remember other things from Future Connected like the setting, the conversation system, the Fog King... But he truly must have been a completely unremarkable villain, so he's definitely a great pick for worst villain. Also, I just spoiled myself on part of XCX's ending by reverse googling image the image on the bottom right corner, I should have figured out it would have been related to that since I didn't recognise that character. Z is pretty good at representing the main theme of the game at the end of the day. I dunno, Zanza is pretty stock "omnipotent supervillain that just wants to rule over everything" in terms of what he's about. The most interesting part about him didn't happen until 2, so you really need his overall presentation to carry you through an otherwise typical kind of antagonist for a JRPG. It also doesn't help that he really only shows up fairly late into the game compared to every other Xenoblade villain, so there's really not much of an impression for him to make beyond the token "you fools, you did everything I wanted you to do!" moment that kinda dies fast once Shulk snaps back to it afterward. The fact that Malos' desire to destroy humanity was never his own and how that shaped his relationship with everyone around him makes him a lot more interesting by default, to say nothing of how he interacts with the cast throughout the entire game. It also helps a lot that for a game that had some issues with the overall voice over direction, David Menkin came to play to make him very memorable from start to finish.  Fatelord Member Sep 21, 2024 193 Rex didn't win anything. Xenoblade 1 world... I'd rank that 2nd, personally. Like, Christ... X DE, the graphical improvements, the beautiful skybox, the freedom, the secrets, absolutely destroy Xenoblade 1. Best character and arc definitely is Xenoblade 1 though. I like all Xenoblade games but definitely think Torna and 2 are my least favorite. Not a fan of the characters, not a fan of how they butchered exploration (especially coming off the original X from the Wii U)... chapter 10 though and the OST were its only redeeming qualities for me. Xenoblade 3, love the music, love the characters, love the world, love the story and villains.
