Peacemaker season 2 has a big Superman connection and… a second Peacemaker
Peacemaker season 2 is coming to Max on Aug. 21, DC Studios announced Friday, and a new trailer for the best live-action DC superhero show ever made is hinting at big things to come. That includes appearances from Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner, Isabell Merced’s Hawkgirl, and Sean Gunn’s Maxwell Lord. Those three will be a big part of James Gunn’s new Superman movie in July, offering some connective tissue between Peacemaker and the rebooted, Gunn-helmed DCU. But the second season of Peacemaker will also feature… another Peacemaker? The Peacemaker season 2 trailer ends on John Cena’s anti-hero having an unfriendly run-in with his doppelgänger in a pocket dimension. The first season of Peacemaker briefly explored the concept of pocket dimensions, meaning there’s a good chance that Gunn and crew may use the conceit to help bridge the Snyder-era DC cinematic universe and the one that soft-launched with animated series Creature Commandos. That said, who really cares if there’s a hard and fast explanation for why Peacemaker continuity extends from one era to the next? We’re here for the Peacemaker antics, the return of Vigilante and Eagly, and more of Economos getting dunked on. Also, apparently Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt is going to beat the shit out of lots of people, and that is good television. Frank Grillo returns as Rick Flag Sr. in season 2 of Peacemaker, and Tim Meadows joins the cast as ARGUS agent Langston Fleury. Meadows’ character looks like a hilarious dick and is a real highlight of the second season’s teaser trailer. Gunn’s Superman hits movie theaters on July 11, and while it doesn’t appear to be required homework for Peacemaker, it’ll at least give us more of Fillion’s Green Lantern. What is required, however, is watching the first season of Peacemaker, which is superb.
