Apple’s 20th Anniversary iPhone Will Be Reminiscent Of The Original iPhone, Featuring Extensive Use Of Glass And An “Extraordinarily Complex” Design
For the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, Apple is planning a major design overhaul in 2027. The device's look will be similar to what users have been demanding for years: an all-screen design with no disruptions or distractions on the front. A new report claims that Apple will remove the bezels and incorporate under-display technology for the Face ID sensors and camera. More importantly, the all-screen iPhone will be manufactured in China due to the complex production techniques involved. Apple's 20th anniversary iPhone will feature a complex glass design inspired by the original model, including under-display camera and Face ID For years, we have been seeing concepts related to the all-screen iPhone, and it appears that we are gradually getting closer to the dream. The last time Apple offered a radical design change for the device was back in 2017 with the iPhone X to mark its 10th anniversary. For the 20th anniversary, Apple is aiming to go all out, for at least one of the models from the bunch. According to Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter, the 2027 iPhone will mark the device's 20th anniversary, and it is expected to receive a major design overhaul. The design is described as "extraordinarily complex," for which the company will appoint China to manufacture it. Even though the company has expanded its production facilities in India and Vietnam, the 2027 iPhone's complex design can only be manufactured using China's state-of-the-art production techniques. According to the report, the 20th anniversary iPhone will feature a truly edge-to-edge display with the front camera and Face ID system placed under the screen to eliminate the cutouts. Moreover, the device will also feature non-existent bezels, allowing the phone to look and feel completely futuristic. Additionally, the device will extensively use glass, aiming to resemble a single sheet of glass, reminiscent of the original iPhone launched in 2007. Apple is also dealing with a tariff situation imposed by the Trump administration, which is causing the production of the devices to be extremely expensive. Regardless, the company is still opting to choose China instead of India for the protection of the 20th anniversary iPhone. It remains to be seen if the company will make any amends to the decision, but based on current information, India will only produce lower-end and mid-tier iPhone models. This could make the 20th anniversary iPhone very expensive on two fronts: tariffs and the complex nature of the design. However, Apple has embarked on a journey to make its own chips, including the new C-series of modems, which could allow it to cut some costs. We will notify you with more details on the device as soon as further information is available. Deal of the Day
