State of Play Reportedly Planned for June – Rumor

Rumors have been circulating about the next PlayStation State of Play and whether it premieres this month. However, it could actually happen in June, according to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb.
On the latest episode of Game Mess Mornings, he referenced insider NateTheHate saying that he hadn’t heard about a May event for Sony. “I haven’t either,” added Grubb. “But that’s because something’s happening in June. It’s a June thing. They’re doing something in June.”
However, it likely won’t be a PlayStation Showcase or something big. “Now, is that going to be a big Showcase? I don’t think so.” Grubb reported the company “going back and forth” on hosting a Showcase or going with the usual State of Play. “Sounds like they’ve probably settled on a State of Play. I’m not 100 percent about that aspect of it. It’s probably a State of Play, but I have heard June.”
Sony has two major PS5 exclusives coming this year – Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yōtei. Director Hideo Kojima confirmed that the final trailer for the former would arrive a week or two before its launch on June 26th. Perhaps it’ll appear at this potential State of Play.
Sucker Punch’s open-world sequel to Ghost of Tsushima is out on October 2nd for PS5 and could very well receive a trailer with more extensive gameplay. Of course, there’s also the potential for brand-new announcements, so stay tuned.
