Additive manufacturing and a PLA filament body make this a low waste option that can be remade and reconfigured infinitely.The STAK Modular Lamp comes in ceiling, sconce, and tabletop versions, looking right at home in any part of the house. Because the 3D-printed parts are made on demand of PLA, a plant-based bioplastic derived from sugarcane, the STAK lampshades are 100% commercially compostable. This allows Melt Mod to experiment with shapes that would be difficult to produce using traditional manufacturing, while using smart materials to reduce waste. In addition, Melt Mod pledges to only use plastic free, recycled packaging for all products.The STAK Modular Lamp looks equally elegant with a singular module as with seven. The modules, with a strong Scandinavian design influence, can be stacked and switched, changed and customized for a perfect fit. Within a relatively muted color palette, some stars shine: a rich terra cotta module, another a dusty blue.
