Just like Batman: Arkham Shadow, Awakening is another VR spin-off of a flatscreen game series, and traditional gamers are upset.In an interview with VideoGamer, Metro Awakening creative director Martin de Ronde tackled the issue of online complainers dogging on VR releases. While the developer understands that some gamers are missing out, theres also the reality that these games simply wouldnt exist otherwise.Metro Awakening is the perfect time to enter VRSpeaking to VideoGamer, de Ronde explained that now is the perfect time for gamers to give VR a shot. If not for Metro, then maybe for Batman, and if not for that, maybe the upcoming Alien: Rogue Incursion in December.To a certain degree, obviously, its understandable if you if you dont own a headset and youre a big fan of Metro and you want to play everything there is that revolves around Metro, then I can understand where the disappointment is coming from, de Ronde said.That said, I think its never been a better time to step into the world of VR. Theres a couple of pretty good reasons this holiday season [Batman, Metro, Alien] to start playing VR games.Sticking to the franchises heartWhile seeing a faithful continuation of the Metro series on a platform they dont have access to may upset players, its more important for the team to make sure their product sits as a proper entry in the franchise.Theres nothing that I hate more than having a franchise that I love dearly be tarnished, de Ronde said.
