The passion and engagement of the Modo community has been inspiring, [and] we thank you for being part of this journey.According to Foundry, the decision will enable it to focus on its core offerings, and invest in new solutions that meet the evolving needs of the media and entertainment community.Final update due later this year, with no further maintenance releasesModo 17.1, due out later this year, will be the final update to the software.Foundry says that it will continue to investigate and provide workarounds for issues, but does not anticipate any further releases, including maintenance releases. The official Modo forum will shut down in December 2024, and product downloads and access to online documentation and learning content will be removed in November 2025.License extensions available, but Foundry recommends switching to other softwareUsers with active subscriptions or maintenance contracts dating from before Foundry ended perpetual licenses will continue to receive support until the end of their current contract.Existing users will also be able obtain extended 10-year license terms to continue using Modo. However, while Modo 17.1 may continue to work on future operating systems, Foundry will not be issuing any patches, and recommends customers migrate to alternative 3D workflows as soon as possible. We aim to extend this story with a brief look back at Modos 20-year development history, so check back for updates.Read Foundrys FAQs about the discontinuation of ModoHave your say on this story by following CG Channel on Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
