EHDD announces launch of C.Scale, a new building decarbonization software
EHDD, a West Coast design firm known for its innovations in sustainable building technology, has announced the launch of C.Scale, a new building decarbonization software. C.Scale will be structured as a public-benefit corporation and operate independently from EHDD. Using machine learning models, the new platform sorts and analyzes carbon data, allowing AEC professionals to make climate-sensitive decisions on any scale of project. Like its progenitor, EPIC, which was released by EHDD in 2022, C.Scale will be an open-access platform.C.Scale allows architects to make climate-conscious decisions when designing buildings. (Courtesy EHDD)C.Scale will function independently from EHDD in order to attract the large investments required to sustain a software tool. Jack Rusk, former director of climate strategy at EHDD, will serve as the new companys CEO. Rusk cofounded C.Scale with his colleague, Brad Jacobson, former principal at EHDD. The climate crisis demands bold action at unprecedented speed and scale, said Rusk in a statement. As an independent company, C.Scale can now accelerate the deployment of our technology to transform how every building project worldwide approaches carbon reduction.EHDD prides itself on the delivery of net-zero buildings. With C.Scale, the firm hopes to democratize access to carbon data, allowing firms world wide to achieve similar results. This spinoff demonstrates the power of combining architectural expertise with cutting-edge technology, added Jennifer Devlin-Herbert, CEO of EHDD. Were proud to have incubated a solution that will accelerate our professions response to climate change.
