New Switch Anime Fighter Due Out In 2025 "Refused Classification" Down Under

I wouldn't pay our idiotic classification board any mind. When they finally introduced the R18+ classification for games, they also changed the guidelines to be prohibitively strict with regards to anything that could even vaguely be construed as constituting "sexual violence", so much so, that when the PS Vita versions of the Atelier Arland games were reclassified for release, they jumped from modest PG ratings all the way to prohibitive R18+ ratings, despite no changes to the actual plot. And what's even more ridiculous is that the minority of the Board reportedly sought to ban the games for allegedly exceeding the parameters of the then-newly introduced R18+ classification. Morons.I was already concerned that, by the wording of the guidelines, that we were going to see an onslaught of games classified R18+ merely for "References to sexual violence" when they would have received far lower classifications under the old framework. Nobody asked for this. What the public wanted was an adult classification to prevent games from getting censored or being square-pegged into a more lenient MA15+ rating to work around the absence of an adult rating. That was all.Meanwhile, the guidelines for films haven't changed, so the same content that could slide with as little as a PG or M rating in a movie today, would default to an R18+ if not banned entirely if the same material featured in a video game with respect to what the Board seems to constitute "sexual violence" (and the guidelines are not specific about what that actually entails).Incidentally, just a few months ago, they've changed the guidelines again with regard to gambling, so that games that contain in-game chance-based purchases now default to an M rating (comparable to ESRB's T rating or PEGI's 12 rating), while simulated gambling now defaults to an R18+ classification. So basically...Actual gambling with real-world currency: All ages but advised for mature audiencesPretend gambling with no financial risk: Restricted to adultsIt should have damn well been the other way around! And despite contributing to their useless consultation, my concerns evidently fell on deaf ears. They could appeal the decision, but that would be too expensive a process for a niche game like this.
