PlayStation has an enviable portfolio of IP, with the likes ofGod of War, The Last of Us, Horizon, Spider-Man, Uncharted,and others adorning a lineup of heavyweights. As many active and popular franchises as the company has, however, it has just as many that are dormant, but continue to have fanbases that hope for a comeback at some point in the future. FromJak and DaxterandSly CoopertoApe Escape, Killzone, WipeOut, and more, PlayStation has an abundance of legacy IP that havent seen the light of day in an eternity- though as per PlayStation CEO Hermen Hulst, the company remains open to bringing inactive properties back into the limelight.Speaking in an interview with Famitsu, Hulst called PlayStations catalog of IP an important asset, before adding that the company is always looking at opportunities to make use of existing franchises in addition to creating new IP.Our many IP holdings are an important asset to PlayStation, and as part of our efforts to strengthen our portfolio, we are continually looking at opportunities to leverage past IP as well as develop new franchises, Hulst said.Astro Bothad proud and prominent representation for many of PlayStations inactive franchises (including several of the aforementioned ones), though of course, the hope for fans will be to see full-fledged new entries, as delightful as those easter eggs and cameos were. Whether that means well ever see a new, say,Jak and Daxtergame at some point in the future is anyones guess, but one things for sure- theres no shortage of demand for one.
