However, Arrowhead is far from done with the game, teasing that years of updates will eventually turn the game into a full-fledged sequel.Helldivers 2 will become Helldivers 3Speaking to fans on Twitter, Arrowhead Game Studios COO Johan Pilestedt explained that the team is planning to grow the current version of the game into something that resembles a sequel. While the current version of Helldivers 2 is fantastic, Arrowhead is looking to expand the game far beyond its original scope.Responding to a joke comment about Helldivers 3 adding 8 player co-op and swimming in the far future, the COO revealed that the plan is to evolve the current version of the game enough to make it seem like a full-fledged follow-up.We are growing Helldivers 2 into Helldivers 3. so you may be correct, the COO said. Except maybe swimming I dont think its possible to swim in a heavy plate carrier with rifle and support weapons. Also, all our games have had the thing about the protagonist not being able to swim.With the massive scale of the games recent Illuminate update, its no surprise that future updates will see the game evolve even more. Recent leaks for the game have revealed a functional weapons attachment system, plans for wildlife systems to populate barren planets, and even terrifying new Automaton enemies to face.Its clear that Arrowhead is far from done with Helldivers 2.
