Following the end of the series original arc with the release of The Final Shape, Destinys Revenant storyline isnt bringing in the player counts the game used to have.Destiny 2 player numbers hit another all-time lowWith Destiny 2 Revenant Act 3 just around the corner, many players expected others to come back to the game for a new round of content. However, it turns out that many players are leaving Bungies free-to-play game behind despite additional content still releasing. After wrapping up its main storyline, Destiny 2 has managed to hit its all-time concurrent low. Via journalist Paul Tassi, Destiny 2 has managed to lose 90% of its player base since the release of The Final Shape.I know it was the end of the arc and all that but a 90% drop-off for a live ongoing game in seven months is crazy, Tassi explained. Its why these recent conversations about game health feel different this time.Since its release in 2017, Bungies looter shooter has always had highs and lows in terms of concurrent player traffic. However, since The Final Shape, no new content has managed to properly grab the player base, and before that the game was already in an obvious decline. With Marathon now nearing release, it seems that the studio has a chance at delivering a new experience for players. However, for those who want more Destiny, or a better Destiny, it seems that the games lifespan may be reaching its end.Nevertheless, Bungie is still working hard on the looter shooter with a host of new updates on the way. Following Revenant Act 3, 2025 will see the release of two expansions and four major updates from now until Spring 2026.
