After learning that their diplomatic envoy to Africa served as a smokescreen for a covert post-colonial coup, jazz ambassadors including Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, and Nina Simone wrestle with the contradiction of representing a country where institutional segregation reigns supreme.
