Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy might finally be getting ready to go to a galaxy far, far away and he's bringing Ryan Gosling along for the ride.The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Levy's Star Wars movie has entered negotiations with Ryan Gosling to star in the upcoming movie. Levy has been developing this Star Wars movie since 2022, with a script in the works since last year. Levy is once again collaborating with Jonathan Tropper who wrote the films This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project, both of which Levy directed.Details for the Levy Star Wars movie are, of course, secret with no word yet on who Gosling could be playing or even what era in the Star Wars history it's set in. The only details around the story that are known is that it is unrelated to the Skywalker Saga.The Hollywood Reporter also states that it's meant to be a standalone movie, so presumably it won't be a trilogy of films.Every Upcoming Star Wars Movie and TV ShowThe involvement of Ryan Gosling has also pushed the film forward. Levy was originally set to direct a boy band movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, but THR says if Gosling officially joins the film, then production on this Star Wars picture will move up and become Levy's next film, with production set to begin in the fall. Star Wars is currently in a transitional period at the moment. After the cancellation of The Acolyte, Disney Plus premiered its newest Star Wars show, Skeleton Crew, which just aired its final episode. On the movie side, Dave Filoni's The Mandalorian and Grogu movie wrapped production in December with plans to release on May 22, 2026. And there's a new trilogy of movies focused on Daisy Ridley's Rey from the sequel trilogy.No word yet one a release date for Levy's Star Wars movie if it indeed moves forward this year.
