Revolution TeamGTA publisher and Rockstar parent Take-Two is very protective of its IP, starting a whole campaign against fan mods. Back in 2023, it shut down Sentient Streets, an AI-powered mod for GTA 5 that let the player talk to NPCs via a microphone, and hit the creators YouTube channel with a copyright strike. It hasnt stopped since, and its latest victim was Revolution Teams GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition, a mod that introduces Vice City on GTA 4s RAGE engine, complete with all its missions, cutscenes, and improved models.Take-Two didnt appreciate it as much as fans did and sent Revolution Teams YouTube channel into oblivion, erasing the 100,000 views its trailer collected.GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition was supposed to be released onJanuary 25, but now fans are worried T2 wont let it happen. Unfortunately, the modders havent provided any updates on the situation yet, leaving players (and perhaps the project itself) in limbo. The games backers are especially worried since the shutdown would mean money loss. The mod has a lot of appreciators who are set on getting it at any cost. I will download, make copies and spread them so deep into the internet that even if the internet were destroyed, this mod would still exist, said one of them. Others think Revolution Team should distribute the game via Torrents. The launch should be tomorrow, but with Take-Twos involvement, the fate of the mod is unclear.
