Victoria Wilmotte, AD Frances Designer of the Year, recently presented the CONCAV Collection at a new showroom at 38 rue Madame, in the 6th Arrondissement of Paris. This modern backdrop is the perfect canvas to celebrate Wilmottes work, full of rich texture and color that juxtapose neatly with the stark surroundings. Graphic, bold, and sculptural, this collection, which includes a desk, stool, mirror, and tables, extends through and around the sphere in space, holding cavities and extrusions in place with ease. Each piece is created in VWFACTORY, Wilmottes technical, highly generative studio space, where any finish or form can be made through experience and refinement.Pops of acid green and solid expanses of charcoal interrupt the extending white planes of the Parisian gallery, delineating space in a way that is highly titrated down to its maximum visual impact. These elements work beautifully together, creating an immersive world of Wilmottes exacting creation.A hearty mix of industrial riveting and textural powder coating combined with the acid green transparency of the top add a bit of wit to the CONCAV Console II. The lighting offers a light-box quality, illuminating the top with regularity. This allows different values to be shown, steadily increasing towards the brightness of the wall, as the eye pulls away from the center of the table. Rounded nodules mimic riveted steel, adding to the cheeky material use of the bright green, futuristic tabletop. The CONCAV Console Granit employs similar form language to the rest of the CONCAV Collection, nestling comfortably into any entryway or corridor. The satin shine of the powder coat adds a quiet luster to the angles of the table, jutting out from the wall in a regular yet organic way. A flat, rocky crag, held up by the strength of industry. The CONCAV Round Table embodies similar design cues, yet with a round top. The restraint used in this texture speaks to the elegance of Wilmottes work, refinement and tact built over years helping guide her to the final product. The legs splay wide, almost converging at the middle of the table. The strength of the angle paired with the mechanically wrought finish play harmoniously, lending an approachable industrial feeling to any space.Victoria Wilmotte is a designer pushing the boundaries of form and function. Just as comfortable embodying the title of sculptor, she weighs volumes and empty space equally to produce visionary works. Removing material or adding finish until the desired effect is achieved, Wilmotte has received multiple awards for her work, and has had the opportunity to collaborate with brands such as Poliform, IKEA, and Land Rover. To learn more about the CONCAV collection, please visit victoriawilmotte.fr.Photography by Jean-Pierre Vaillancourt.
