However, it seems that the release date for the upcoming MMORPG isnt as solid as many players would hope.Dune Awakening devs play coy with release dateIn an interview with Eurogamer, Funcom revealed that the games tentative early 2025 release date is a very loose bar for launch. While the game is still scheduled to release in this early 2025 period, Funcom is cautious to give a specific slate for the title.I guess it depends how you define early, Dune Awakening executive producer Scott Junior told the outlet. It could be the first half of 25 that could be early. So Ill leave it there. It could be the first half of 2025.Alongside the games release date, the outlet picked the producers brain regarding the games monetisation strategy. Dune: Awakening will not be free-to-play and there will be no subsciptions to play, unlike World of Warcraft. Instead, players will pay a one-time fee to access the game and additional fees for expansions.We will announce our monetisation strategy a little bit closer to launch, Junior explained. There will not be any subscription, though I can say that. He was also happy to clarify, It will not be free-to-play. Chances are Dune: Awakening will be a premium-priced game.When Dune: Awakening does finally launch at some point this year, the MMORPG will be released in a full, finished state on PC. Afterwards, content updates will continue to add new storylines and quests to the game, and a console release is planned to arrive, although there are challenges in getting the game to run on Xbox Series S.
