The winning team selected for the maximum 150,000 contract will work alongside the Old Trafford Regeneration Taskforce to create a high-level vision to unlock transformational change of the Wharfside area home to the Old Trafford football stadium.Once complete, the strategic masterplan may be adopted as a supplementary planning document and used to determine planning applications for the area. The search for a consultant comes just months after it was reported that Manchester United FC is working with Foster + Partners to develop a masterplan for the land around its Old Trafford home.According to the brief: The scale of the opportunity, in economic, cultural and placemaking terms, and the ambition of Trafford Council and its partners to deliver a new and sustainable international destination of enduring quality, should be reflected in the submission and in the outputs of this project.AdvertisementThe Strategic Masterplan should critically review, build on and extend the work carried out to date in the draft Trafford Wharfside Development Framework and draft Trafford Wharfside Masterplan.The Strategic Masterplan should be similar in form to a Strategic Regeneration Framework, and include masterplanning and design principles to shape and direct development in the Wharfside area.Wharfside is a large light industrial area located on the southern banks of the Manchester Ship Canal opposite MediaCityUK and Salford Quays.
