A Latin American country leading the way in this transition of public transit is Mexico, which is overhauling the existing gas-guzzling system with heavy investments in electric buses.The latest addition to the ever-increasing fleet of electric buses on Mexican roads is the worlds first 26-meter all-electric bus from Chinese manufacturer, Yutong. The feat-making bus is double articulated: It has multiple passenger compartments aligned in line one ahead of the other jointed by pivoting joints. Its more like the road train trucks of Australia that are made up of combined semi-trailers for hauling cargo.Designer: Yutong YutongDesigned and developed by Zhengzhou-based company, the 26-meter high-capacity bus, is completely electric and made primarily to satiate the increasing demand for low-energy public transport. According to reports in the media, Mexico already has a fleet of 744 electric buses most of it is from Yutong making it the fourth-largest fleet of electric buses in Latin America.This 26-meter bus for the Mexican roads is equipped with modern batteries and motor technology. It is designed and commissioned in accordance with Mexican laws and regulations, and air conditioning norms to provide optimal conditions in the local climate. The bus was launched in the last week of January and comprises driver assists for better control and confidence on the road. Much is required considering the mammoth length of the public transporter.This humongous bus is conceived with the idea of meeting the escalating demand for low-energy, high-capacity public transport that caters to the norms and riding experience of passengers in the Mexican locale. According to available information, these buses will contribute to the modernization of the crowded city transport in Mexico and also in Latin America in the near future.This expansion is a vision of Yutong, which may be based out of China, but has a global footing. Already a large producer of electric buses in China; Yutong is now expanding its development of electric buses outside of mainland China: Latin America and Europe being the major target regions that the company wants to tap.
