Nintendos latest financial results show that the sales of the first generation of Switch and its games have dropped faster than expected during the first nine months of the ongoing financial year.The sales from Nintendos dedicated video game platform, which includes hardware, software, and accessories, dropped by 31.7% year-on-year to 895.5 billion yen, which is about $5.7 billion. This has caused the company to lower the forecast of the consolidated earnings. Switch sales expectation is now down by 1.5 million to 11 million units, which is 12% less compared with the original number, and the software sales forecast has been reduced by 10 million to 150 million units, which is 6.3% less.NintendoNintendoThe report also shows a regional sales ratio, with the Americas having 43.6%, the highest in all four regions. Europe has taken 25.3%, followed by Japan, which contributes 23.5% of all sales, and the other regions taking only 7.6%.Although the sales of Nintendo Switch and software were below expectations, Nintendo is glad that the console continues to be enjoyed by many people. The titles that were released during this fiscal year increased steadily. For example, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which was released in September, reached 3.91 million copies sold, and Super Mario Party Jamboree, which was launched in October, saw 6.17 million copies sold.
