Designed as an internal level editor to help developers create arenas for Flick Shot Rogues more efficiently, this tool essentially involves discarding the old mesh and generating a new one through code each time the shape changes. Jan-Helme Henke starts by placing circles in each corner and connecting them with lines, then adds vertices along that shape and uses it as the foundation for creating the mesh.As he explained, he worked on this for over a year, making improvements whenever needed. First, it was just an angular shape (you can still see it in the white lines), and from that, he extruded the 3D shape later on when the levels look was refined. Then, he rounded the edges once it became clear that sharp angles didnt fit well with the gameplay imagined. It is kinda fun, all steps are still present in the code, with different modules applying their changes to the shape one after another, commented Jan-Helme.Flick Shot Rogues is a satisfying roguelike dungeon crawler where you line up the perfect shot to send your hero spinning across the board, created by a team of three developers at Butter By The Fish. Each new run reshuffles enemies and offers different rewards, letting you chain together wild combos, unlock characters, items, and skills, and conquer the island.See the original Reddit post for details on the games level editor and wishlist Flick Shot Rogues here.
